One mock draft (Utility Sports on YouTube) has Sacramento trading down with Indiana. Sacramento gets the 6th pick, 31st pick, and Cleveland's 2023 lottery-protected 1st round pick.
Indiana gets the 4th pick and drafts Jaden Ivey. (He went to Purdue, which is in Indiana). Detroit takes Sharpe at number 5 and Sacramento takes Murray at number 6.
This trade makes a lot of sense to me.

murray and sharpe being off the board at 7 would be worst case scenario for me. Not excited about Mathurin or daniels.

This would be a huge bummer.
Let's hope Mathurin is drafted somewhere before 7.

The fact that this rumor came out a couple days before the draft tells me they're trying to build some trade buzz for him at 7....sweeten the pot from teams who want him badly. I still think he's traded. Seems like a true smokescreen rumor to me

Cronin has been studying Jerry West's Laker Mind Tricks. Go get'em Joe. I really like that Draft hat.

Yeah idk why people are clinging to every report put out the week of the draft. Not saying they won't draft him, but its much more likely they're just playing the game. Oh you want Shaedon? Yeah we love him and are gonna take him. Oh wait, its Daniels you like? Yeah we love him too. Murray? Yeah were leaning towards trying to trade up for him....and on and on.

I asked the stupid question previously, whether anyone knows why Sharpe didn't play at Kentucky, and was surprised that no one did. So, I'll ask the next stupid question...has anyone actually watched him play, or are we all getting slobbery hyped up over other peoples' takes based on HS projections and private practices?

Clearly, our promise to Sharpe and Houston's promise to Banchero are connected. Houston will take Paolo, but ih Sharpe drops to 7, we'll swap Sharpe and Nas for Banchero.

    Yeah, that's the ticket...

Speaking just for myself, the excitement around Sharpe isn't solely because others are excited about him. Certainly there can be groupthink within the industry, so it's possible that's elevating his stock, but I, like many here, want a swing for the fences with this pick. A solid single, or even a double probably does nothing of substance to change Dame's career trajectory, but another star could.

Sharpe could be a bust, that's true, but again, if you're approaching this pick with an all or nothing attitude, that really shouldn't factor in. Of all the prospects reasonably within our range, Sharpe has all of the things you're looking for in a potential star (comes from a BBall factory, solid size/length, advanced footwork and scoring instincts, youth, etc.) but many are afraid of what he could be because of his path to the league. If you're onboard with drafting Sharpe, you're looking at his not having played CBB as a benefit, it's the only thing that's keeping him from being out of our reasonable range of picks.

For better or worse, this is putting the trust completely in our front office, but, it's largely the same front office that took the exact same approach with Ant Simons that seems to be paying dividends.

Swing big on Sharpe, if you hit it may change the trajectory of the franchise. Adding nice pieces is great and all, but mediocrity is the very last thing you want to be in the NBA...

^ But it sounds like Sharpe isn't NBA ready right now, it may take 3-4 years for him to become a star. If that's true, then it doesn't fit Dame's timeline. IMO

If you're making draft selections based on who can help the fastest I think you're doing it wrong, especially when talking about a lottery pick. Take the best talent available. For example I'm sure there were better immediate fits than Anfernee a couple years ago.

I don't like giving up on Nas. He made every bit the jump Ant did. And he's a better defender. Ant has him beat as a scorer, but Nas can become the complete package IMO. Ant has been healthier. That can't be disputed.

Not to mention, if he's really going to be a star, he's going to be able to contribute sooner than that... Giannis wasn't what he is now in his first few years , but he was certainly contributing...

Travis Demers was talking about how he rubbed up against Giannis at the draft, and was like, who's this skinny kid. Sometimes you take a flyer and hit a home run.

Anyone who says they've watched him play is lying to you. But there are a couple of his HS games in full on Youtube. There's obviously highlight clips from his EYBL games. I sat through most of this shit and had to gouge my eyes out because of the poor quality of play in general.

But what we scout doesn't really matter. You better bet Cronin was at some of those games/practices. Schmitz has apparently watched him practice at UK multiple times and said he had the upside of Edwards.

Here's one from his sophomore year when he put up 58.

The problem with all this is translation. He shows a very advanced offensive repertoire and elite footwork for a guy who is 16/17/18 yrs old. And his competition are pretty decent players who are all his age. The question marks with him are all about his mindset I think. Does he think he's a superstar who needs everything handed to him, or will he work to earn it?
