I like it. Let’s do it. Scoot/Herro/Lowry Sharpe/Herro/Rupert OG/Murray/Jacquez Grant/Jovic Boucher/Badji
Nope. We get even smaller, add a guy who's making more than Ant and a dude in OG who wants the offense to run through him (according to recent reports out of Toronto) and is going to want to get PAID in a couple of years. I don't care about Jaquez or Jovic, and I don't think Toronto's 2024 first rounder is going to be much of a much.
Comes down, to me, to Simons, Little and 2 1sts for OG. And I think he'll be expensive to retain. At the same time, he'll expire around when we're upping Sharpe and Scoot, so maybe not a huge deal. Still need a C, but sure what the hell. Scoot/Lowry Sharpe/Herro OG/Thybulle Grant/Boucher ??/??
He absolutely would. Fuck that guy. I hope OG and Pascal walk for nothing. It's EXTREMELY stupid and petty, but I've disliked that fanbase ever since their arguments for Bargnani over Roy for R.O.Y., and all the arguments I saw of why he was better or would be better than Roy.
You might be right, but that doesn't mean it is a good idea to move him. Of course, other than draft day I haven't agreed with much of anything Cronin has done, so I won't be shocked if we move him for another 6'5" expiring contract we sign to a too-big contract.
It's a good idea to move him if he's going to be toxic in the locker room. Can't afford to have that with a bunch of kids.
toronto wouldn't do that before free agency, why would they do it now? also OG doesn't have an extendable contract; do we think he'd re-sign here?
I mean... IF he's going to kill Scoot Henderson, then we should trade him. Has he killed rookies in the past? Has he been toxic with an adverse impact on rookies in the past? They're professionals. They're adults. Anticipating that younger players are going to be adversely impacted by Nurk because... maybe they will be is silly. And moving Nurk without getting an actual center on the roster while spending $32m a year for Grant and $11m a year for a backup role player... actually, yeah, that is pretty consistent with Cronin's apparent "strategy" for success. It's just a bad idea.
No, if were building around Scoot/Sharpe I don't want to give up those picks for the upgrade from Ant to OG. He's too old, too little upside, and too injury prone. I'd rather keep those picks regardless of what we do with Ant/Herro. If we can get more for Ant then Herro I'd consider that aspect of it, but I'd want picks for sending one of them elsewhere. We can take on a bad contract back. PICKS PICKS PICKS!!! Thats how we'll build a contender and thats how we'll be able to remain competitive if the team gets to contend and Jody won't let us pay the tax (I suspect this is likely). We'll need picks to keep valuable role players on the roster on cheap contracts while ducking the tax. If we had the SPAM days possible then picks might not be as critical. With Jody they're essential to ever keep open the possibility of contending.
Well he'll be 26 on Monday. So thats 7 years younger than Lillard, and 7 years older than Scoot. Blazers are at least 2-3 years away if not longer. So OG will be declining, likely on a near max type of overpaid contract if he's not hurt again once Scoot/Sharpe are ready to win. Hell he might just leave in free agency to the Spurs or something in 11 months. I don't think the Blazers need to get an OG level "starter" by giving up multiple unprotected picks. Even one of those picks are worth way more. OG made sense if the Blazers were trying to win immediately next season with Lillard. Now it doesn't make any sense to give up great assets for him when the Blazers need to rebuild and possibly tank a few more seasons. OG will just get in the way of that.
I'm fine with moving on from Nurk; but if we can't get any value for him then just let it ride and see how he does next season. Maybe he plays a bit better with more touches and more offense as on the 4 game win streak. Maybe with the cap going up and in the last two years of his deal he has more trade value. If we can get any kind of FRP value for him I do that trade. But I highly doubt that, and suspect his contract currently has negative trade value, so I'd just keep him and re-evaluate next season.
