This is simply a thread in which to post various Scripture, and the like, as to encourage the brothers and sisters in the Lord. :)

I just read this. It's a great verse:

Today is the day that the Lord has made!.....I will rejoice and be glad in it! ~Psalm 118:24

Proverbs 13:6 said:
Righteousness guards the man of integrity.

Something tells me this thread will receive fewer views than the "Bodacious Babes" thread.

That's one of my son's favorite songs to sing before he goes to bed. :)

I pray scripture for the President every night:

Psalm 109:8

Let his days be few,
And let another take his office.

This one has become very meaningful to me in recent months

Psalm 23:4 Yea Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil. For You are with me: Your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

Ezeikiel 25:17

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

“And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food.”
—Genesis 1:29

Repped for starting this thread. It's nice to see which verses speak to others.

Romans 5:3-5

...we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

my favorite

Lev 19:19:

'Keep my decrees. "'Do not mate different kinds of animals. "'Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. "'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.'"

"as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us." --- Psalm 103:12

This is one of my favorites...

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." --- John 3:16 (although this is used a lot)

Another one that I always live by is this one...

"So when they continued asking him, he lifted himself up, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her." --- John 8:7

This scripture was about Jesus and a mob that was trying to tempt Jesus on stoning a prostitute.

Very cool, thanks. :) I just wanted to spread a little peace and joy amongst the group. I've really been close to the Lord lately. It's been a very good thing.

East from West is potentially a very long ways.

In other words, if you were to go North.....eventually, you'd begin heading South. Conversely, once you go East (or West for that matter), you'll always be heading in that direction. :)

jus sayin

Psalm 149 and 2 Samuel 6:14 (quoting Ecclesiastes 3:4)

"there is a time to weep, a time to mourn and a time to dance."

Of course, the second you turn around, you're heading west.

To a repentant soul, God won't do that, though.

Isaiah 45:7
I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create disaster; I, the LORD, do all these things.

Proof that good kills babies and makes good people get cancer and die

Levitacus 26:14-17

“‘But if you will not listen to me and carry out all these commands, and if you reject my decrees and abhor my laws and fail to carry out all my commands and so violate my covenant, then I will do this to you: I will bring on you sudden terror, wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and sap your strength. You will plant seed in vain, because your enemies will eat it. I will set my face against you so that you will be defeated by your enemies; those who hate you will rule over you, and you will flee even when no one is pursuing you."

And if you keep reading it gets better!

C'mon man...

I've been teetering between Agnosticism and Christianity for several years. I've taken several religious classes, in high school, at Tulane, and beyond. I've tried very hard to educate myself about different religions, and seeing baiting like that just strikes a nerve with me.

Christianity is actually a very logical, sensible, and credible religion, and mocking Old Testament passages is just pretentious and not well thought out. I don't want to get into that in this thread, because it'd derail it, just like you're trying to do with you quote, but I'd be more than ready to debate the merits of Christianity in another thread.

More than anything, why would you come into a thread that is meant to inspire and give people hope, and then try to shit on them?

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

"Create in me a clean heart, O God.
Renew a loyal spirit within me.
Do not banish me from your presence,
and don’t take your Spirit of Holiness from me.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation,
and make me willing to obey you."

Psalm 51:10-12

Voodoo, I fail to see how his scripture is any less valid as anyone else's...some would say the great thing about the bible is that it can be interpreted to mean something different to everyone, some take solace in gods jealousy power and wrath. Like "god fearing" used as a compliment

Don't play dumb--you're better than that. It's obvious to all why you, VG, and westnob have posted in this thread; there's no need to be obtuse.

Didn't realize this was a feel good circle jerk thread I guess, but a thread about our favorite bible verses.

Carry on.

It is what the OP suggests. :)

If "circle-jerk" is the term you'd like to apply, then feel free, but "feel good" is absolutely appropriate. The OP made it very clear what the intention of the thread was.

...perfectly in keeping with another of my favorite passages, Hebrews 10:22-25:

"...let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

My bad, enjoy

James 1:22
Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

Revelation 3:20 - Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
