Can we have a "Fuck Comcast" sticky, please? I think Comcast earned it.

Comcast complained to the Blazers about me. I was posting Chris Haynes articles their entirety but I was including a link. I explained to Chris that I like the stuff he writes but there are a lot of people who hate Comcast and won't click on their links. He said if it were up to him I could post what I want but his editor was making a huge stink about it. Also the editor doesn't even want me posting links to their articles here because you guys only discuss the articles on our site and not in the comment section of http://www.csnnw.com/ . That's why I made sure to include a picture of Dwight so everyone knows who wrote it, will hopefully click on the link and read the wonderful article.

From what I understand the editor of CSNNW reads this site and he will most likely complain to the Blazers again instead of contacting me here via Private Message or my SlyPokerDog@yahoo.com email address.

So, basically, the editor at CSNNW is complaining about the internet operating the way the internet does: people posting links to content that they think is interesting. Seems like a rather strange idea, but then that's not unusual for Comcast in general.

So the editor of CSNNW doesn't want me to click on their link, go to their site, and read their articles?

What a dipshit.

And that's being kind.

BTW: Fuck Comacast

Let me tell you something about Comcast:

Fuck Comcast and the editor they rode in on.

Re: FUCK COMCAST

Oops. You're not supposed to use vulgarities like 'Comcast' in the thread titles.

Re: FUCK COMCAST

No, we don't need to have a Fuck Comcast sticky and I probably shouldn't have said what I did. I'll leave this here for a little bit but then I'm going to merge it in the thread you took the quotes from.

What would be more helpful is the Comcast deal is coming to an end soon, we need to give the Blazers a better idea of what we as fans want and what we think is fair. Things have changed drastically since the last contract was signed.

Would you want to be able to watch games on your smartphone? tablet? computer? Would you be willing to pay per game? month? season? How much?

Also we can't have swear words in the thread titles anymore. We can swear in the threads, just not in the titles.

The WWE made their own network sorta thing, where you can watch their pay wrestling events online. for 10 bucks a month.

I'd pay 10 bucks a month to watch Blazer games (and if there was an archive of Blazer shit too).

Seriously, call it the "Blazer Network" and have people pay to watch old games, inside info, and streaming shit. As much as the WWE is about trailer trash sometimes, they are ahead of the bell curve here.

Come on Blazers, don't let wrasslin' better you!

Personally I think watching the game on a smartphone is stupid. Tablet and computer are better, but not ideal. Ideally the Blazers would partner with someone like Netflix to sell streaming packages directly to customers. If I could buy the full Blazers season on Netflix I'd pay...well, I don't really know. Without giving it much thought, maybe $150-200? I really have no idea what the going rate is - I cut cable years ago. What's League Pass cost?

Pretty sure this is what the Blazers did in the 80s/90s. Blazer Cable, anyone?
The problem with that is you'd still likely need to HAVE cable in order to buy the channel. Unless you could buy a Blazer Cable box that just received Blazer games?

I wouldn't be into watching the game on smartphone either except for the times when I'm at the coast or out of town.

I want to watch on my big ass TV. With surround sound. I'll pay a reasonable amount for the privilege. A NetFlix-type package as Julius suggested would work fine. It should cost less than League Pass.

I would be into watching the games on as many platforms as possible, but ideally I would like to see a web site that live streamed and kept games on record. That way I could watch the game at my leisure and not miss out when Im out of town or my DVR fucks up.

This Comcast deal has been a huge clusterfuck and the fans have been the ones who got screwed. I cant believe there are still areas of Oregon that cant watch Blazer games because of blackouts and no available Comcast service. Ill be very disappointed if the Blazers dont fix this mess this time around.

The WWE Network idea is cool, but that shouldn't be the only way to get their games, because the WWE Network is pretty much hemorrhaging money. I'd say the average Blazer fan is a bit ahead of the curve compared to the average wrestling fan though, so they would probably be more likely to have the internet and streaming device to get it i suppose.

Not having to deal with the Comcast/Blazer issue is the one thing I like about not being close enough to go to games.

How bout sign a deal with KGW and show us the games for free, Paying extra to watch blazers to me is not worth it. We pay enough when we go to games, buy clothing etc... Not everyone has an extra 200 bucks to throw out.

If the Blazers want to expand the fan base and gain more attention charging more to watch there games is not going to do it, They need a KGW type deal to bring fans back to the table and get the excitement going again especially after the CCNW debacle.

I don't speak for the Blazers and am not an expert on this but the numbers I heard was Comcast paid $10 mill a year for 10 years for the broadcast rights. That's $100 million the Blazers would have to make up somewhere. I just don't see KGW being able to pay that much. The Blazers would have to make up the lost revenue somewhere.

I'd pay $10 a month.

You'd need 100,000 Blazer Fans paying $10 a month for 8-9 years to make up the $100m.

Advertising?

Comcast could still pay the Blazers to broadcast the games. They just wouldn't hold exclusive rights.

I've always thought there was a workable solution to this Comcast crap. Shared rights sounds best for everyone.

What I heard is Fox Sports offered the Blazers $4mill a year for 4 years, a $16 mill contract. Comcast came in with $10mill for 10 years, $100 mill. I don't blame the Blazers at all for taking the Comcast deal. I don't blame the Blazers, in a small market, for going for all the money. I just expect the next deal to be better for the fans and by better I mean an option to watch the Blazers other than Comcast.

If nothing else I think the deal should have been reached that required Comcast to share or sell rights to DTV and not for the obscene price per person they were trying to get.

One thing I am 99% sure of and that doesn't get publicized at all is that the Blazers pay KGW to broadcast the games and from I understand they pay a significant amount. The Blazers do try to make some games available for free to the fans.

lol.

Sorry, Sly. But there's no way around it. They fucked the fans over and a little bit of KGW games isn't going to get the forgiveness.

Comcast fucked over fans. The Blazers are trying to make the best of a bad deal negotiated by Larry Miller.

Agree! Comcast was supposed to get a deal done with Direct/Dish several years ago. They havent tried very hard and why would they? They've probably gained a ton of subscribers because of this (and Pac 12 channel).

Im not sure about that, I think Comcast just wants exclusive rights period. I know many people who have directv and they only watch blazers games when on KGW or prime time, otherwise they only see them when at game or they have fallen away from team. Signing up with Comcast just to watch blazer games is not a priority to anyone I know and they are die hards, just hate Comcast.

I just hope Blazers come up with solution that can appease the fan base and still keep money coming in for them. If they do another Comcast deal though I will blow my freaking lid!

As of August 2013, the channel is unavailable on DirecTV and Dish Network. DirecTV and Dish Network maintain that Comcast is negotiating in bad faith. For example, on one hand Comcast argues that the channel must be on a lower tier with the most customers.[10] At the same time, Comcast argues that non-Comcast-owned sports channels should be shown only on a sports tier.[11] The Trail Blazers are said to be frustrated and disappointed by the conduct of Comcast over their contract with CSN.[12]

The Consumer Protection Committee of the Oregon House of Representatives held a hearing on February 24, 2010 to help get the channel on DirecTV, Dish Network and Charter Communications. No one from DirecTV, Dish Network, or the Trail Blazers attended.[13]

On June 21, 2010, the Trail Blazers asked the Federal Communications Commission to require Comcast to make Trail Blazers games available to competing multichannel programming distributors such as DirecTV and Dish Network.[14]

One Oregon cable company, Canby Telcom, has objected to the additional annual charge in excess of $32 being required to be charged per customer in 2012 and has announced plans to stop carrying the channel.[15] Canby Telcom President Keith Galitz is quoted as saying "That's just too steep an increase for us, and it's not in line with inflation or normal escalation of prices in the industry."[15] Canby Telcom had announced plans to discontinue the channel as Comcast had offered a non-negotiable fee increase that would bring the annual per subscriber charge to over $32.[15] Canby Telcom has accused Comcast of raising rates way beyond the rate of inflation and industry-wide increases.[15] Clear Creek Television, which carried the Trail Blazers for 15 years, was rebuffed when even attempting to negotiate the above-market rate Comcast pushed at Clear Creek.[15]

"Comcast clearly sees the public perception of its treatment of sports fans as a potential Achilles heel in efforts to acquire NBCU", said Sports Fan Coalition Executive Director Brian Frederick, discussing how Comcast sent senior staff members to Oregon when a member of the Sports Fan Coalition testified before the Oregon Legislature on Comcast's denial of access to hundreds of thousands of customers of DirecTV, Dish, and other cable operators.[16]

In a November 7, 2010 article, Blazers CEO Larry Miller continued to express frustration about the lack of availability.[17]

FUCK comcast. The Blazer situation was one of the key/main reasons why I left them for Direct TV. Not to mention their shitty menu system, crappy ass HD quality, and sound. Oh yeah then there is the price rape. Jesus, you either bundle or get taken to the cleaners. No thank you.

Next deal the Blazers better do is allow rights to all carriers, and quit with the fucking black out zones, jesus christ.
