I would rather see Cleveland win than San Antonio. How many championships has that city seen? When was the last time the Indians won a World Series? 1948. When was the last time the Browns won a Super Bowl? Never. They've never been to the Super Bowl. When was the last time the Cavs won a championship? Never. That's a city that hasn't won jack squat in 60+ years. How about you give them a break instead of San Antonio and San Francisco/Oakland, which have both won multiple championships. The Bay Area has won so many championships it's disgusting. The Giants, the Niners, the A's, and the Raiders have all won championships. The Spurs last championship was two years ago.
Great points. You sold me. I dont like LBJ, but if Cleveland can get a ring? Id be happy for the city.
http://espn.go.com/nba/stats/rpi/_/sort/SOS The Spurs have also had the second easiest schedule so far, something to keep in mind.
Just got back from having two wisdom teeth pulled. Then I have to read this thread..... don't know which is more fun.
Nonsense. There can NEVER be enough Giants and 49ers victories. ....sadly, I may be waiting another decade for the latter. I loved LMA when he played here. I was his biggest fan. I even wanted to go to that rally to keep him in Portland (had other obligations though). But...then I started to see him sulking during the playoffs against Memphis, and then I watched how he handled his departure, and I was insulted. His attitude since he's left has been one big "fuck you, Portland", and each article about him seems to confirm this. 9 years he spent here, and all we get is an agent-written letter of goodbye that's barely a paragraph long? Fuck you, Aldridge. I've got 3 of his shirts, and I hate them. I just might use them for work clothes instead. Go Golden State. At least my father's been a loyal GS fan for over 30 years. I hope LMA never wins a ring with the Spurs.
LA would be the third time our best player went to a new team and immediately won a championship. Drexler in 1995, Sheed in 2004.
I like the Spurs and think they'll win it all this season...Lamarcus is where he should be....16/8 and the 3rd option on a deep team. I'm now glad he's gone from Portland because I think it'll spread our offense around more than his era.
If Portland isn't in it, then I'll root for Cleveland, regardless of LBJ. The Cavs came into the league the same year we did and have taken it in the shorts at least as many times as we have over the years. Those poor fans deserve a championship. As bad as it was when LeBron left, their best chance until now was in the late '80s and early '90s when they had Brad Daugherty, Larry Nance, Terrell Brandon, Mark Price, the late Hot Rod Williams, Craig Ehlo and more. They even had Steve Kerr. Lenny Wilkens was the coach. They were one of the best teams in the league, played a great style of ball and were a class group of players. They were touted as perennial contenders. But when Daughtery's wheels fell off, so did the team's wheels. It was sad to see and that was one time I felt genuine sympathy for an opponent. Because we had been their ourselves. I'm not particularly in love with a lot of the current Cavs players, but their real fans have earned a ring for keeping the faith these past 46 years.
Ohio has had a ton of baseball and college football success over the years though..their fans have had success even if not in basketball. The Buckeyes and the Indians were successful....just not the Browns or Cavs..I don't like the Cavs team much...JR Smith, Kevin Love and LBJ...I'd rather see the Hornets win or the Raptors before them.
