You know, at times it was tough, it was hard. But like I always do, I accepted the challenge. You know, I found ways that I could help myself, help my teammates. You know they've continued to get better and they've also made it easier. So many guys stepping up. So many guys taking pressure off of me. C.J., AC (Allen Crabbe), just contributing consistently, it's just made it easier. And I've gotten better with it. Understanding things better. Feeling things better. And I think we've become a better team because of it.
ESPN is loving the Blazers. They realized that we are the perfect underdog story starting with our guards from Weber State and Lehigh
hahathe whole "4 starters left" thing. It's a compelling story. Nobody in the media thought they'd be here.
I think it's because this year's team is more fun to watch, a better story, and Dame is finally playing at a superstar level.I was looking at ESPN before seeing this thread, and "Wow, that's a lot of Blazer news. Is it an ESPN game tomorrow, it must be an ESPN game tomorrow" *Checks* "It isn't?! Wow is it an ESPN game tomorrow?" *Checks* "It isn't?!?!?! WOW!"
The fact that they aren't talking about us just to boost ratings is big. We didn't really get this kind of coverage last year, it was always on ESPN game nights to try and increase viewership.
The CJ video sucked. It was bad enough when they quickly went to talking about how Curry should win it even though he won't "because they don't give it to the MVP". But what got me to turn it off was when he said "Another one in a long, long, long, long line of guys who we said - he can't play.".
Interestingly enough I haven't seen them do a story on Aldridge in San Antonio. Maybe he's so awkward about the press that he asks not for that kind of press about him/the team. Or maybe he just doesn't draw any interest... Either way the entire vibe is different without him on the team.I think it's because this year's team is more fun to watch, a better story, and Dame is finally playing at a superstar level.
I'd rather we not be on ESPN. Can't watch that shit live on League Pass.I was looking at ESPN before seeing this thread, and "Wow, that's a lot of Blazer news. You're right, your analysis sucks and is not worth watching, thank's for reminding me.
The Blazers are never going to get the tier-A free agency studs, but players and agents have noticed what has happened in Portland over the last two months. Lillard, Stotts, McCollum, and Olshey have put themselves in the derby for the next tier of guys. That counts as a massive success in year one of what looked like a marathon rebuild.
The Blazers are in NYC and ESPN is an east coast media company not too far from NYC with many NYC based contributors. That was to be expected.
Everyone cuts and screens. Portland leads the league in off-ball screens by a mile, over even the Warriors, per data supplied to ESPN.com from the tracking site Vantage Sports.
Minutes after the Blazers found out LaMarcus Aldridge was bolting for San Antonio, breaking apart one of the league's most polished starting lineups, C.J. McCollum's phone rang. It was Damian Lillard.
"He basically told me, 'This is our chance to show everyone -- our coaches, the whole league, everyone -- that we can be elite together'," McCollum told ESPN.com.
Overall this is a great article. Some of the timeline information (Which I assume/hope is true) was very interesting, and I hadn't heard it before.
Zach Lowe is arguably the best writer in sports right now. He knows his shit, he writes extremely clear and well thought out pieces, and he clearly loves basketball. I truly enjoy reading his work.
If this is true then what was all that BS about Dame meeting with LA in the midst of the off-season?Minutes after the Blazers found out LaMarcus Aldridge was bolting for San Antonio, breaking apart one of the league's most polished starting lineups, C.J. Had anyone heard this before?
That's pretty big news.
I thought it was Dame was flying to meet with LA then LA pretty much blew him off and it was an exchange of texts instead of a meeting. If this is true then what was all that BS about Dame meeting with LA in the midst of the off-season?
