Just when you think Vonleah is stepping up, he shows you all his limitations: Hands of stone. Slow reaction time. Bad instincts. No reliable outside shot. We really needed him tonight against Utah's bigs, but he was barely a factor.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm not that excited about our front line outside of Nurkic. Aminu and Leonard have two of the ugliest shots in the game, and Vonleah is just not coming along as fast as he should be. I'm hoping we get rid of all three of them this summer.

Vonleh is on a cheap contract and Aminu is much more effective coming off the bench. I think Leonard and either Crabbe or Turner will be traded in the offseason.
 
Vonleh WAS exposed, you are absolutely correct.

He has shown that with Nurkic, he's able to do the things that make him great.

So exposed. It's crazy we already have the answer to it, but he's just out.

There's been growing optimism about Vonleah's progress, but tonight he showed us just how raw and unfinished his game really is. That's what I mean by exposed.

Going against a taller player doesn't explain why he fumbled away three passes that were thrown right to him.

Feel free to go out and play basketball with a shot-blocking freak who towers over you and has the longest wingspan in the league. It makes you hurry what you are going to do and doubt your moves around the hoop.
 
Dame is 12-41 in the last two games without Nurkic. They don't even run plays for Vonleh. If you want someone who is affected by Nurk's absense, look at Dame and his shooting %. That is a stomach wrenching 29%.
 
Withey also made Vonleh look like a fool - it wasn't just Gobert (which is understandable and expected).
 
Nuggets fans on their board love Vonleh. Some of them think he's better than Nurkic long term if we have to decide.
 
Vonleh is a typically mediocre young player. He's not good, but he wasn't exposed as particularly terrible. He's always been a well below average player and still is. He's improved a bit, but not nearly enough to suggest that he's going to be a really good player in the future. He'll probably hang around until he hits free agency and then drift as a deep reserve journeyman.

I think they just want to see Nurk fail so the trade doesn't look so bad.

It's equally maddening that he can't guard ultra quick pgs also.

Dude has zero help on the front line against one of the best centers in the NBA, and we're calling him out?

Dude is a nice role player who just turned old enough to drink.

Vonleh isn't the issue. Roster construction is the issue.

Assuming that the roster was constructed to win

How does an NBA player in his 3rd year who is 6'10 miss multiple wide open 2 foot hook shots?

Guys like 36 months away from playing against HS kids...... takes some longer than others to get their NBA game going. Who on here realistically thought he was going to be huge for us anyway. Good young bench guy. Glad somebody started a thread about him getting lit up by one of the best bigs in the game. Oh well.
