@TBpup and I thought a good topic would be who the 10 best players fro this draft will be 5 years down the road. Don't have to worry about team needs or what other people think just who will be the best players.

We did a video talking about it

If you don't want to watch here is both our lists. This could be a great great bump thread 5 years from now.

Cool! Glad to see you guys doing this....on my end PJ's mike vol could go up a bit...Tpups was louder....I enjoyed the podcast....not a lot of bigs on your boards...Ball wouldn't make my list at all...I completely agree with Larry about small 2 guards...I think Patton in 5 years could be really good. I also like Olshey's tendency to let other teams pick guys for Portland like Orlando...I think we'll buy a 2nd round pick and use a first round pick we trade up for.

In 5 years, LaMelo Ball will be the best player in the NBA. So I'm not sure why we're even talking about these guys.

It was fun to try and look into the future. It's even more fun to try and project which late 1st and 2nd round picks will be those diamonds in the rough. There are some almost every year and this year I think has the potential for there to be at least a couple.

How much of your responses/info was from D69? I'd venture to guess he'd at least have 1 or 2 later picks up in the top 10.

1. Fultz
2. Ferguson
3. Josh Jackson
4. Fox
5. Mitchell
6. Isaac
7. Smith
8. Monk
9. Tatum
10. Justin Jackson

Nobody is going to want to draft a Ball after Lavars big assed mouth and Lonzos failure to perform.

1.) Tatum
2.) Fultz
3.) Jackson
4.) Isaac
5.) Fox
6.) Mitchell
7.) Smith
8.) Z. Collins
9.) Bolden
10.) Wilson

This year, none. He has some new responsibilities at work that have kept him from diving in nearly as deeply. I'm sure he'll have some good ideas come Draft day when we go over all the players before the Draft. He also got tired of posters telling him how stupid he was for rating players like Giannis and Gobert as Top-3 and Top-5 players in the years they were drafted. Their brilliance in opinion and vocabulary understandable ruined some of the fun of it.

I think you are right when you say he would have a couple of later picks higher.....he has done so every year and been so spot on it's been ridiculous.

1. Josh Jackson
2. Jonathan Isaac
3. Jayson Tatum
4. Markelle Fultz
5. John Collins
6.
De'Aaron Fox
7.
Lonzo Ball
8. TJ Leaf
9.
Frank Ntilikina
10. Caleb Swanigan

There's always at least 1 lottery bust (Markkanen), a couple mid-late 1st rounders that over achieve (John Collins, TJ Leaf) and a second round surprise (Caleb Swanigan).

Lotsa cats in here rooting for Ball to fail... It's like you want it... Shameful...

Where are people rooting for him to fail? In our podcast, we both had questions about his size (162 lbs) and apparently he wasn't in good shape for his first workout with the Lakers so they have scheduled a 2nd one. I questioned his ability to perform in the half-court where he is not nearly as good as he is in the open court where he is brilliant.

Also, for as small/light as he is, it seems quickness would be very helpful and he doesn't have that level of elite quickness like someone like Fox.

Those just seem like legit observations and not a 'rooting to fail'.

Here is my guess:

1. Fultz
2. Josh Jackson
3. Isaac
4. Pasecniks
5. Mitchell
6. Fox
7. Tatum
8. Zach Collins
9. Patton
10. Evans

There are also a few other 2nd round picks I really like. I said it before, and I'll say it again.... I hope Blazers draft 2 first rounders & swap #26 to Orlando for their 2 early second picks (33, 35). I want 4 players drafted. The second rounders, stick them in D-League utilizing the flex contracts.

Say what you want but IMO there are a few posters in here who can't wait for it to happen.

We already discussed this in that long ass, drawn out, completely useless Lavar thread...

And again, NONE of you have raised an NBA player and Lavar by all accounts may raise 3. They are smart, confident, well spoken, respectable boys. All of them.
Lonzo is a pass first PG and by all accounts a good teammate and probably the MOST unselfish player in the draft. Stop looking for reasons that he will fail because that's all you guys are doing.

nbadraft just dropped Lonzo to PHX at 4 in their most recent mock behind Jackson and Tatum.

I hate his dad, but this dude has too much skill to go down below 2. Not understanding why some of you guys have him out of your top 10.

I think it's unfair to characterize a negative evaluation of a player as "looking for reasons that he will fail". Are you similarly irritated by posters' negative evaluations of Ike Anigbogu and TJ Leaf? Or are those considered more valid because they don't have outspoken fathers who are perceived as influencing people's opinions?

I agree. I don't mind going on record predicting he will be a very good NBA player. He might struggle his first year but I still say he has the "it" factor when he steps on the court. However I do think at some point in the next couple of years he needs to distance himself from his Dad while working on his game. Every player in every sport can use a different set of eyes and a different voice while trying to improve. And I am not too sure Dad will be willing "let go" until Lonzo is ready to tell him to back off. But eventually he will.......

For me, it would be his shot (which is an unknown, since he'll need to revamp it for the NBA game) and defense that give me pause. He has a stand-out ability when it comes to passing but that, alone, won't make him a star. Rubio has both great passing and defense and he isn't a star--because he can't shoot reliably.

If Ball's new shot is good, I can definitely see him becoming a star. If, additionally, his defense becomes passable or better, I can see him becoming a superstar.

As things stand, though, I'd have him in my top-ten for five years out, assuming I made a list.

It hasn't been the same type of talk Platy... Some in here can't wait until he busts.

1. Tatum
2. Jackson
3. Fultz
4. J Collins
5. Issac
6.OG Anunoby
7. Ball
8. Patton
9. Markannen
10.Leaf

Can't believe I'm the only one here who thinks Ferguson will be a top 10 player in the draft.

I have nothing against Ball it the team he goes to will have alot to do if he can be successful. Plus him coming in a workout out of shape that don't look good to me how dictated he is to be a star or super star in this league. Does he has chance to be good sure but what level I don't know.

@tester551 ... I thoroughly believe Portland will not be selecting all of their picks but may also end up with a pick in the 2nd round. I'm trying to gather as much as possible and will post it in a thread probably early next week a couple of days before the Draft. @SwissBlazer

I don't root for any kid to fail...I just go by the bunches of games I've seen him play in and I still think it's hype.....this is the first season I've watched quite a bit of college ball....I think Pat Connaughton would school him.
