I'm certain a thread like this has been created at some point over the illustrious history of this community, but with all the Collins/Swanigan talk I'm curious what your biggest scouting fail ever is. As in, a dude you desperately wanted the Blazers to draft and they turned out to be a bust.

Mine was Montross. I almost puked typing that.

Wasn't for the Blazers to draft, I grew up in Chicago, but was wanting the Bulls to grab Deon Thomas, and then later on, Priest Lauderdale. Not huge fails, but remember really liking them both. Lauderdale sucked badly, and Thomas went to Israel to play, never played in NBA. I'm sure I have plenty lottery type selections as well.

Draft has never really been my thing simply because college ball is so annoying to watch.
I however won't hesitate to admit I wanted Barnes over Lillard.

I have never really been a draft guy, so I haven't really made a lot of prognostications. I'd have to think about someone that I really wanted to draft beforehand. I have definitely bought into the coolaid though. I thought Webster was going to be better than he was. Qyntel Woods for sure.

I was definitely on the Oden train, but then again, a lot of people were.

Non-Blazer related, but after comparing Oladipo's college stats to a certain Tarheel, I was projecting him to become the next Jordan.

I believed the Telfair hype.

I saw Bayless in Summer League and thought he and Roy would be the future of the NBA elite backcourt combos.

I liked Bayless.....a lot.

I thought Batum sucked his rookie year. Woops.

Oden, Bayless, Harrison Barnes over Lillard, Qyntel Woods.

I wanted Rudy Gay over Roy. Big fail at one point. Maybe not as big of a fail today due to longevity.

Morrison. But honestly, he could score in the NBA. He just couldn't guard and then got hurt. I think his diabetes with the NBA schedule caught up to him.

Another guy that I really liked who hasn't panned out was Alec Burks.

I thought the Martell Webster pick was so retarded at the time. It didn't disappoint. As I've gotten older my eye for draft talent has gotten really good.

The diabetes thing from what I understand was a HUGE reason he didn't last in the NBA.

Austin Rivers over Dame.....

Oh gawd. I remember that was a common sentiment.

I do remember I publicized Lillard on this board pretty early when that draft season was young and Lillard was getting mocked around 25 in the draft. I posted a bunch of highlight vids. The rest is history.

I'll also admit I was slightly on the draft the stache train
I'm glad I got that one right. I thought Roy and Aldridge were the two best players in the draft and was shocked when we got both.

I remembered another fail......

I thought Monia and Khryapa would come over and be like am army of Ginoblis. Whoops.
