Absolute trash defensively. Looks like another awful free agent signing by this stupid organization.

Worst signing in years. This guy is an overrated Buffoon. I don't care if he took a discount. What a terrible signing this was.

Stepan deal was for the future. It falls on the GM to bring in a replacement. Gorton thought he could get away with it. He can still get someone but so far it has blown up in his face.

Getting rid of Step because if the NMC was a necessity. However, failing to replace him is inexcusable and we are seeing almost rock bottom here. I expect things to get worse over the next 2-3 weeks before AV is finally fired and then a slow turn around, just enough to screw our selves out of a good draft pick.

No wonder St.Louis kept getting knocked out of the first round consistently with this idiot as their top d-men. Sucked on the Caps as well.

He is no prize as NHL defenseman!

Perhaps it is AV's system that sucks. The defenseman overall have been atrocious this year. For what they get paid, they need to play a heck of a lot better. Even McDonagh.

This guy scored 2 goals last night, but he was on the ice for 2 Panthers goals. His +/- will be around
the even mark.......but I’m opting that he’ll be in the minus column. He is very erratic and inconsistent.
He definitely does not improve the Rangers’ defense! Gorton erred with this signing.

Gorton didn't make a mistake with signing Shattenkirk. The PP was one of the top 2 reasons this team never won a cup with Hank. It has sucked for a decade until this year and he's a major reason why it doesn't. Gorton's mistake was signing Smith once he signed Shattenkirk. Hopefully, he can find a team that will think Smith will fit their system better. I also think Smith getting married in the off-season set him way back. He probably didn't do crap to prep for this season.

Granted. Shattinkirk gives the PP a jolt. He does have a downside. He's on the ice often when the opposition scores.

Shatt was brought here to score and the shot is as advertised, wish other defensemen on the Rangers would see that accuracy is more important than velocity.

He can put some points on the board but oh boy, he sucks defensively. Just plays too soft, he fits right in.

Shattenkirk has rejuvinated the PP and the Rangers season. People have to stop trying to find any and everything to complain about.

Without him they would probably have less than 5 pts.

Yep. Our PP is finally good. That won this game. Perhaps if Smith didn't suck moose dong for over 4 million a season, this team would have a good record by now.

Buch seems to have progressed nicely. Good for him. Hopefully they can keep up this PP otherwise Shatt is useless at even strength.

Maybe Shatt needs a sound defensive system like St.Lous used to employ under Hitchcock because AV has no defensive structure. Just run and gun.

mel, he will break them up as soon as that line doesn't score for one whole game.
