I've seen Bird, Magic, Jordan, & Kobe play, IMO LeBron is the G.O.A.T

I don't even think it's close.

I think the closest player to LeBron is Magic just because they both can play all 5 positions on the floor.

You put LeBron on Magic's Laker teams and he would average just as many assists.

Just an amazing player.

I am assuming that you are only going as far back to the Jordan Era in which I will agree. Although I think Lebron is one of the few that could have made it under the Old NBA rules.

Bird and Magic were before the Jordan era.

Maybe you should change your name to SlyLeBron’sMom.

LeBron has improved in this area late in his career, but he's still a 50/50 winner (championships and disappearing acts) at best, taking the easy route year after year in the Leastern Conference and unabashedly forming super teams. I don't see anywhere near the competitive fire in LeBron that the others on your list displayed.

If the question is most talented and physically gifted ever, I would probably agree. Greatest ever? Not a chance.

While championships and winning them are one thing... taking total scrub teams (Literally 3 through 15) to the finals is a feat that should not go unnoticed, no matter the conference or era.

I see your strategy. If you pick this cottonfield several times per day, you may make this thread last all summer.
Say what?

Except for his obvious assist from steroids, making him a mere cheater.

And still Durant is better than him today.

Bird and Magic played against much fiercer competition in a more physical environment.

Jordan played in a softer time, with a huge assist from the league, but still is superior to LeRoid in results and competitiveness.

More interested in who the next big thing will be now that Leonard has fizzled out. :dunno:

What disappearing acts? 2011 finals? 2010 Semis? Yeah he doesn’t win every year but that’s not on him, his stats are remarkable in the playoffs.

I don't know what that means. Roster spots 3 through 15? I can only assume you're referring to his first Finals trip in Cleveland, because everything else has been a loaded squad. The weakness of that early roster is very overstated.

I don't remember the years, but looking emotionally defeated against Boston, being the only player on the court not able to cope with the heat in San Antonio, and probably a few others I'm forgetting about. Take out the extremely lucky win against San Antonio, and Draymond Groin gift wrapping Cleveland a victory, and LeBron's Finals record is among the worst ever. Big stats don't make him the GOAT. The players in that category, you have to bleed to beat. They don't just walk off the floor when the going gets tough.

If Oden can come back, he has a shot at the greatest ever. He was rated higher than Durant.

I'm not really old enough to "remember" most of these guys, but I do watch a lot of classic basketball games. I think this conversation is hard to have for a bunch of reasons. I think All round basketball Players, Lebron, Magic, and Oscar Robinson were the best. The best scorers were Kareem and Michael Jordan. The thing is I believe Michael is the best ever and Kareem is number two. The reason why I don't think I would have Lebron as the best (but probably top 5), is that there have been a lot of years in Lebrons prime where he wasn't the best player in the NBA that year. KD, Westbrook, even Harden this year and Steph Curry have had individual years where their numbers have been better than his. When Jordan figured out how to win and finally got past Detroit, he was at that point the best player in the NBA every single year (unless we count the Washington wizards stint). Lebron has definitely been in the top 3-4 players every year for longer than Jordan was. Then their is Kareem, who literally had the most unstoppable shot in the history of basketball, everyone knew what was coming and they couldn't stop it. All in all my personal list the argument starts at 3, and who knows Lebron has a couple years maybe he wins a couple more and he goes up the list.

Not on topic but one great thing about LeBron's career. Looking back in 50 years with HD recording of most of it people can enjoy it like we did. Not me so much I didn't get to watch as much of him as I did Jordan.

Say, I'm curious about why you're so down on LeBron. What did he do, mess with your woman?

Well, he hasn't messed with my woman so I'm gonna say he's the best all around player in the NBA.

So the 29 other teams have no problem with Lebron being on steroids?
If he were, I would think at least one owner speaks up. Gilbert or Riley could easily have said something after he left.

Jordan has more scoring titles, more MVPs, more Finals MVPs, a DPOY award, twice as many championships all in less seasons. He had a will win that LeBron has never shown. I only go back to 1989 so I can't really comment on Bird, Magic, or players before that. Has LeBron even accomplished more than Hakeem Olajuwon? Barely. And what about Tim Duncan who created a dynasty that beat LeBron twice (nearly 3 times) in the Finals? Anyway, no, LeBron is not the GOAT. He's an awesome Top 10 player that we are all lucky to be watching right now.

Ummm in 2007 maybe but in 2011-2014, his number 3 "scrub" was HOFer Chris Bosh. And from 2015-2017, the "scrub" was All Star Kevin Love. He has a lot less to work with this year but he hasn't exactly taken them to the Finals. They barely got out of the first round. LeBron jumped on the scoring table after winning a Game 5 in the FIRST ROUND. Take that in.

Yes. Definitely. You can be just amazing without being the GOAT.

I think you're right but you've got to agree that he kind of looks like he's on steroids.

one was the best of a certain era. The other at his. I don’t think you can say one is better than the other because you don’t know how either would of played the game in each other’s time. They are both amazing. It’s tough to say of all time. At this point I just seperate them by different times of ball. The game has changed so much since Jordan’s time.

The rules today are very different from the 80's and 90's.

Put Jordan in today's game and he would be more dominant
