If the Blazers do get moved they will no longer be the Blazers, but some other stupid name. I can't even fathom it.
St. Louis (and Kansas City) have been trying to get basketball franchises for years. They lost out to Memphis of all places. Those markets are on the decline, whereas this one is booming. The Blazers also have a market monopoly - those other cities already have pro teams.
Well, since they already stole "Golden Knights" from the Army, may as well go with "Midshipmen" for the basketball team. And you can say it was sponsored by Nike!
Why not? Vegas is absolutely booming, its getting super corporate. Good enough for the NFL or NHL. MLB too? https://www.ktnv.com/news/tweets-about-mlb-stadium-replacing-rio-drive-internet-wild
Vegas was 17th in attendance. Vegas also had the most miraculous run of any sport that I can remember, nearly winning a chip in their inaugural season. And Golden Knights tickets are not the hottest ticket in town - far from it.
My first thought after hearing the news was oh hell no. My second thought was that every negative Nancy on the board would be wetting themselves worrying about the team moving. Not going to happen.
Vegas has the new T-mobile arena too. https://www.reviewjournal.com/sport...-moves-giant-step-closer-to-landing-nba-team/
