At the end of the Video Rachel said that Dame said to her he is gonna add the stepback 3 to his arsenal this offseason. Your thoughts? Could this help against all these traps and double Teams?

That and I kinda thought he already had that? I mean he is top 5 in the league for threes and he shoots form many angles and spots. Does he need more work on his threes, or will the threes he has get easier if he works on other things, like better spacing on the P&R and when driving?

Id rather have him get the core together and work on spacing and defense.

I mean who knows if Rachel knows what she's talking about, but the last thing I want him to work on is shooting more. I want him to work on not picking up the dribble, pushing the pace, when he gives up the ball on a trap, relocating quickly, his handle (it's not very creative).

So tell everybody Dame so they continue to know how to guard you.

What he says and what he does remains to be seen, but some changes are surely needed

I think he needs to work on passing out of double team drills

Agreed. Yes, other players need to be open and to hit shots, but he has been forcing way to many passes resulting in turnovers. Injury or not. Love you Dame, but don't put it all on your shoulders.

Considering we never trap other teams, I wonder if we even practice against the trap? The two sort of go hand-in-hand ... to practice against it, your second unit is running it in practice.

Meh, i hope he takes that 37 footer out a foot and works on his 38 footer. That'll really space the floor.

What I'd like to see is the high screener slip his pick. Then Dame either pitch it quickly to the wing or to the screener in the high post and cut to the basket to receive a return pass. There is so much available space because of his range. Things move faster with the pass rather than the dribble, and it wouldn't allow quicker help defensive teams like the Warriors to converge on him near the basket.

But he needs to learn to do some different things in the 15-to-17-foot range or the pounding he's taking is going to shorten his career. He needs more confidence in his floater. He needs to drive sometimes looking specifically for the contact and getting to the line. Right now, when he drives, he's a runaway train. That's fine much of the time, but if you add a lateral changeup to that, he'll become twice as effective.

Our spacing is soooooo bad though. I lost track of how many times I saw Harkless and Aminu standing within 5 feet of each other and/or the 3 point shooters on the opposite side standing too close together. When that happens one defender can easily guard two players and the defense isn't punished for sending the trap. The rare times someone recognized this and cut to the basket it usually resulted in an open dunk or lay-in.

I just don't get how we aren't prepared to combat this nor do we attempt to take out the other team's best player in the same fashion.

Im no GM or coachign guru, but I found myself even saying "watch your spacing guys!" At the game. It looked really bad to me.

Dame needs a coach that will force / encourage driving more then making a game into a 3pt shootout -- as they say you LIVE by the 3 and Die by it and right now they are dying

Truth is Dame should get with CJ and get a mid range game more then expanding his 3 pt shooting

Yup. A lot of times he tries to get too deep to finish and gets blocked or runs out of angle.
He's often successful in beating a guy and around the base line for a reverse or lay up, its usually when he's dribbling long, looking for a seam and blows directly through defenders waiting for him.

I mean seriously. The coaching staff has Dame dribbling into a double team that everyone in the building knows is coming on every possession. Shit, when I was in the fifth grade the coach had two guards bring the ball up together so they could pass to each other. The coaches can't figure out how to run an offense that doesn't involve Dame getting trapped and smothered by taller defenders, sometimes bringing a third? Really?

Every game the Blazers have found new ways to beat themselves. The one thing that has remained constant is having Dame dribble into a hopeless situation every time up the court.

The Blazers aren't giving themselves a chance to win.

Dame can't beat Jerebko off the dribble while on single coverage right now. He needs a screen to get past anyone. I think it's a function of him being worn out.

80 games in the regular season ( with the last 10 where he single-handedly carried the team), 5 emotionally draining first round games, and 7 hard fought battles against double/triple teams, and he is running on E right now. The rib/hamstring injuries notwithstanding, this is a ridiculous load he has placed on his body. The same thing has happened to Harden the past few years.

I really hope for his sake they monitor his minutes moving forward in the regular season next year. This is why building the roster is so important. You think Curry would have the juice he does now if he had to carry GS like Dame carried us earlier in the season? It's also why all this bullshit about GS doesn't need KD is just that-- bullshit.

Here are leaders of minutes (regular season + playoffs):

1. Dame -- 3444 (606 in the playoffs)
2. Harden -- 3291
3. T. Harris -- 3290
4. Klay-- 3236
5. PJ. Tucker-- 3228
6. Durant-- 3132

as a comparison, Steph is at 2879

Dame's minutes rival Lebron over the past few seasons. I bet he can't wait to take a month or two off before starting up again. Rest those legs.

Unfortunately, we are in the West, and we dont have the roster to give Lillard more rest in the Regular Season because every game is important in our Conference, and the bad thing is, Lillard will have to carry this team even more next Season with Nurkic out, and btw did i mention that Hood, Kanter, Seth and Aminu will be gone maybe?. Well i'm pretty sure we don't see all these 4 together as Blazers Players, maybe we can keep at least Hood. It doesn't get any better for Lillard next Season unless Neil will be creative and works his ass of in the Offseason, if not, i could easily see a 1st round exit next year

Rachel literally made this up. Listen to what she says:

"And I think you will see him working on his step back three this Summer to add to his game cause that's what he's missing in this series.

Dame never said it's something he is going to or needs to work on.

This is silly. Seth Curry should be getting more time instead of Turner.

If we had no Turner on this team, we'd be able to play Seth more minutes.
