A missing piece: AARON GORDON

Meyers Leonard, Harkless and Trent plus our #1 pick for Aaron Gordon and filler

[assume we can somehow re-sign Kanter, Hood and Curry]

Dame / Simons
CJ / Curry / free agent
Hood / Turner / sign Aminu cheap?
Gordon / Collins
Kanter / Skal / Nurkic

Dame works during the off-season with Hood to build his confidence and as a result, Hood becomes the small forward we need. Gordon provides a high-energy PF with a ton of upside. He’s got a decent 4-year contract as well.

Perhaps at the 2020 trade deadline we can unload Turner and target a SF but he’s ours to keep now...

You got to do at least 2 #1 picks to the Magic for this to be in the realm of possibilities. I like Gordon's fit on this team however.

Who's going to take a package of our under-performing, over-paid players and give a way a legitimate all-around SF who is still young?

A realistic trade scenario has to include CJ.

Ya I was all aboard the CJ for Gordon thing earlier.

Oops. We need someone like Gordon, only better.

Realistically, I don’t believe we’ll be able to acquire a better PF prospect than Gordon without breaking up the team; trading CJ and/or Collins heads in the direction of a break up of the team in my opinion.

Somehow we need to figure out how to afford and squeeze in a high energy PF. Griffin and Love do not fit the bill.

Gordon could! And it’s true that Gordon has yet to prove himself fully. Some say he never will. I say that Portland is a perfect fit.

Leonard has shown flashes and on a team like Orlando or Atlanta, he’ll enjoy another 5-6 years. Add Harkless, Trent and picks (give them as many picks as it takes) and we might be able to pull off this deal. But CJ is too high a price to pay for Gordon.

Orlando is on the rise, primarily due to Vucevic's emergence, but secondarily due to Gordon's continued growth. I think it's fair to say that they have no interest in letting him go, especially if they lose Vucevic in free agency (as is very possible).

This team needs another top 20 player. A superstar.
honestly, we wont get one. the team we have, when healthy, is pretty fuckin good. our bench could be starters (albeit on a shitty team, but still) on a different team. i think, full heartily, our team could have made the finals if we were full strength. for that reason, we should keep the team intact.

Barf...

I guess I wouldn't hate it if your original proposal was close to what we give up but I think Gordon is super overrated by a lot of people.

No way Orlando touches that. They just made the playoffs, they’re building with Gordon, Isaac, Bamba and could see Fultz reviving there.

Its funny that Ive seen, people say they dont want Gordon, Blake, or LMA, but we all agree we need an forward... Just any forward thats sort of realistic we don't want heh.

You heard it here first. Vucevic will be a Laker next season.

I think Orlando would probably be open to dumping Gordon and his contact, but I’m not sure how he fits in Portland. His best position is power forward and he’s not a very good shooter (career 32% from 3) so it’d be tough to envision him playing next to Nurk. I like Collins’ fit a lot more and he’s not going to cost $20M.

All of those choices have risks.

If we want to let Chief walk, I'd seriously consider bringing back Ed Davis to plug that gap....Davis starting next to Nurk or coming off the bench with Kanter would be awesome...and he's left handed with you pair with a right hander like Zach and you don't have a weak side of the basket. Ed only signed a one year deal with the Nets and is a free agent who isn't big money driven and doesn't need touches.....already a fan favorite and knows the system

I don't think we can continue playing Dame and CJ with 2 non-shooters in the playoffs, let alone 3. The offense is straight ugly with Aminu, Harkless and Kanter on the floor. Replace Aminu (who is the best shooter of the bunch) with Davis (never shoots a jump shot) and you're just asking to muck up the offense even more.

we're getting killed on the offensive glass with Enes shoulder issue...Ed will get you the ball but it's a matter of how much you can spend if Chief walks and you keep Hood, Curry or Kanter...I'd say Meyers will be traded.

I like Ed, too, but Olshey specifically said they let Ed go to allow Zach a bigger opportunity to grow. I can't see how the situation would be any different this summer. Maybe if we don't re-up Kanter and Nurk is not expected to return until the All Star break, it makes some sense, but I'm not sure Ed would go for it.

yeah, a superstar would have to come via trade with a year left on a contract, like Leonard and Toronto etc.

then could you keep one if you did snag him.

I look at the bucks and, yes Giannis is a superstar, but they are so deep is silly.

Gordon if we can do it without giving up CJ. If we trade CJ I want Otto Porter

His ISO defense alone would make him my #1 target if he were to become available.

I got as far as re-sign...Curry. FUCK THAT. That dude sucks and I would not even pay him the vet min to return. Go lead a team to the lottery, go play in Europe, go play in Chine - but DO NOT play for the Blazers!

I’m now convinced, Aminu, Harkless and Turner - - I’ll take my chances with Aaron Gordon!

Curry has been the best back up guard we’ve had in ten years! We won’t keep him because another team will want him!

One thought I have is a sign & trade to help us bring Aaron Gordon here.
