Bought a single-wide in Sweet Home Oregon in Linn County. Anyone ever been there? I'm not familiar with that area of Oregon. I've checked the town out briefly last month, and I like it. Nice place.

Guess I'm officially an Oregonian now. God help me, lol.

I plan to give this place maybe 4 or 5 years, then I'm selling it and moving to Idaho or Wyoming.

Nice little town. Gone down there to fish and camp

I really like camping at Cascadia State Park up the road from SH.

Also you're going to get sooooo fat. There is a seriously awesome old school A&W in Sweet Home that is delicious. They have the car hops and the metal trays that attach to the window. More importantly the food is great.

Sweet Home is a cute little town and you have the resevoir nearby for water activities. If you ever decide to move on and Idaho is an option I would suggest northern Idaho in the Pan Handle area. Beautiful country and beautiful lake Lake Pend Oreille, Priest Lake and Cour D' Alene along with many other smaller bodies of water.

My parents and I ate there just a couple weeks ago. Very good food. The closest pizza hut is in Lebanon though....no more hut for me, I guess....unless they deliver 17 miles away, which I doubt they do.

My aunt and uncle lived in Sweet Home so I spent a lot of time there growing up. Green Peter has good fishing and boating. A&W is the business! Goddamn I miss those cheese curds and a Root Beer Float. As far as pizza goes, I will reach out to my fam and get the word on some recommendations. I've never been a fan of the Hut, so it may come at a premium. I'm a quality over quantity guy when it comes to pizza though.

Good luck on the move!

Thank you! There appears to be a lot of pizza joints down there, so I'm sure I can find one to my liking.

I can't wait to check out the area in more detail. But most of all, going from a $1,000+/month apartment rent payment to a $350/month lot rent payment is going to be FAR less stressful than what I've been living in. I plan to save up for a new car and build my gun collection over time. And start a garden; something I've always wanted to do but haven't had the space or money to do.

Wookee lives in Lebanon which is very close by. You can find him in the golf course bar watching the Blazers and quaffing a beer or two or out on the course. That course has rabbits roaming about.
I once dated a girl from Sweethome and that's all I can rightfully say about the place.

Wait. Were you in the Couv or something? I just assumed you lived in Ptown . Maybe you mentioned this and I forgot?

Please don’t be a Duck fan.

As my abbreviated bio next to my moniker says, I live in Lake Oswego which overlaps the small town I was raised in, Oswego. The closest I've ever lived to Vancouver, Washington was when I lived in NW Portland near 25th and Northrup in my teenage years.

Now now, there are Duck fans that deserve to live also. Okay, they barely deserve to live but let's not kill them off just yet. Wait 'till they slip up then it's Katy bar the door.

I rented a little studio in downtown Bend for $600/mo. One check. everything included (utilities, cable, internet, etc.) I was right behind the library. We're talking downtown. Man, what an amazing 2 years that was.

Sweet Home, huh

let's see, I lived there when I was 1-3; that was 1953-1955. We then returned for my 2nd-5th grades. That was around 1959-1963 if my math is correct. We moved away then, a year in Monmouth then 2 years in Amboy, Washington. Then back to Sweet Home for my 7 years of high school. JK. Graduated in '70. Actually we moved to a little east of Foster, which was on the east edge of Sweet Home but has now been incorporated. Lived up on Riggs Hill Rd and was there in 1967 when they started filling Foster Reservoir. My parents continued to live in Sweet Home until they passed away.

My wife and I have camped at River Bend County Park on the Santiam River a few times over the years. Nice park

Sweet Home used to be a timber town. Still is to some degree, but tourism has become a big part of the local economy. Lots of recreation opportunities if you like lakes. Foster Lake has some fishing and water skiing. Green Peter Reservoir is a big body of water with lots of fiords/channels. Lots of swimming in the lakes and rivers (Middle Santiam, South Santiam, Quartzville, Calapooia, Wiley). And it's less than an hour up Highway 20 to the Cascade summit. Lots of hiking. It's a nice little town and it's close to Lebanon which has more shopping; and Lebanon is close to Albany, which has even more shopping. There's about a 40 minute 'back-way' route to Eugene-Springfield. And only about 30 minutes to Corvallis.

there are lots of reasons to like the place, but it may be an acquired taste for some people, and many might not ever acquire the taste

My first apartment was on NW 19th and Irving. $90 a month paid for rent, furniture, heat, lights and electricity, garbage and hot water. It was right after I got out of the Army and started work at Tektronix.

Love Idaho Pan Handle. Did a lot of business with an aircraft tug mfg in Sandpoint where you will see Arian Nations dudes here and there but, not like it used to be with all the skin heads trying to take over the area.

I had friends who lived in Sandpoint. One was half American Indian who married a White blond woman. Boy did he have trouble.

My son and I enjoy stopping at that Pizza Hut every time we come through Lebanon. He's a big fan of their lunch buffet.

yeah, they had a problem several years back with the white supremacists but they were mainly in the Hayden Lake area which is just a little north of Cour D' AlEne and well south of where we go. Been going up that way for a better part of 50+ years and we did all our shopping in Sandpoint and never had any issues and where we camp is on the lake about 13 miles east out of Sandpoint and close to big cities of Hope, East Hope and Beyond Hope Resort (always loved that name). Mathew McConnaughy bought some property and and an island a few years back and has built a beautiful home on the shores of the lake. Beautiful country and some great fishing

Love the area, I had a great friend that lived up in Tamarack/Priest Lake area we'd go visit often. Her parents owned the marina up at the north end of Priest lake.
McCall Idaho is nice area.

I live in Lebanon, just down the road. Sweet Home is great, but be aware there are some pretty serious meth and heroin issues in certain parts of town.

James Gang in Lebanon has far and away the best pizza on this side of the valley.
