Bogus! Stephen A. Smith Wants Damian Lillard in a Bigger Market

I don't know if being in a bigger market would help Dame in any way. But it would be nice to see him on a team that can actually support him. In an ideal world everyone is healthy next season and we can see what a lineup of Nurk, Collins, Covington, CJ and Dame with a solid bench can do. But how many more years are we gonna go where Dame has to carry this team before we realize that we're wasting his career and give him an opportunity to give it a shot somewhere else?

Dame is close to his roots in Oakland here....has family and real estate and business investments in Portland area...clean air, drinkable water....he's 30 and a gazillionaire...he's not moving to some dirty big city for the club life...he's a family man....fuck Stephen A Smith and his desire to bring Dame to his hometown in New York City.....or the Lakers....Los Angeles is trash....terrible place to raise a family....success is finding a home you love and building your legacy there...basketball isn't the mecca in life...the man's already been paid. Enjoy the ride...he's a lifelong Blazer and I for one appreciate that loyalty. Dame's swag is.....you should want to come here and play with me.....ask Melo

The timbers owner responded about this. His questions to SAS was why is he not adamant about getting Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Mahomes into bigger markets since Green Bay and KC are smaller markets than Portland. SAS last week or so wanted Devin Booker in NY> He is just desperate to build up the Knicks. If he wants to watch Dame, he has access to all games, watch then.

He does that shit for clicks. Don't click on it.

Why would we "give him a shot somewhere else" instead of bringing the shot to him by moving players, executives and coaches until we get him the support he needs. That is a defeatist's attitude, good luck with that.

If the NBA needs its biggest stars only playing in the biggest markets, then they have big problems. It shouldn’t matter what city they play in. This is the age of information and it’s too easy to follow anyone anywhere. The league needs to embrace the 21st century or get left behind.

Thats primarily why Clyde left didn't want to be part of a reload/rebuild and wanted to go home and win a championship. And we know the rest of the story....

Is Detroit a big market? Maybe we could trade him for Griffin, though they’d probably want more for the former Lob City Superman.

Is he right? yes. Dame would be a higher profile star if he played in LA or NY.

Does it matter? Not really. There are a TON of really good point guards and he seems to be okay with some decent endorsement deals.

Would his defense improve if he played for the Knicks? ;)

Dame has a pretty good one also with the Adidas headquarters right here.

So, I see you have a standard regarding the two and I agree. SA Smith harps about any subject while Spike Lee creates an opinion through well directed film.

one uses art to get his message across. Another just yells louder than anyone else.
I, for one, do not consider that art.
I think the better comparison is
Big mouth:

Damian Lillard’s loyalty to Portland is well-documented. Stephen A. Smith still wants him out.

There are pluses to being in a big market but there are also minuses.
Portland, Seattle and San Francisco are the cities I'd prefer to live in if I were a star NBA player. Other cities would require higher offers to play for. Some cities would require very high offers. Because, don't forget, larger markets mean more crowding and less opportunity to get out of the Megalopolis and into the country for relaxation.
