Promoted to Director of Player Personnel in July 2014, Cronin manages the team's salary cap and oversees its amateur and professional scouting. An important part of the team's player evaluation and strategic planning process, Cronin is active in the NBA Draft, trades, and free agent acquisitions and negotiations. Entering his 15th season with Portland, Cronin previously served as the team's Pro Scout/Salary Cap Analyst, a position he held since 2010. As a result of his continued dedication to the team, Cronin was the 2011-12 recipient of the Trail Blazers' "Unify People in a Championship Culture" Award. Cronin joined the team as a Basketball Operations Intern in 2006 after earning his Master's at the University of Denver, where he also worked as Graduate Assistant for the men's basketball team. A Denver native who played college basketball at Regis University and the University of Northern Colorado, Cronin resides in Portland with his wife, Megan.

Shut the front door!

Cronin have the balls to shake things up? I don’t know much about him

Wonder what happens next. There is a chance whoever comes in decides to blow it up, and that means having a discussion with Dame and shipping him off. Team needs to make a decision on Jusuf Nurkic and Robert Covington because losing them for nothing at the end of the season in a hopeless season is not going to be good.

my guy jake fischer said a few weeks ago (before going back and forth if it was actually happening) that they were going to promote an interim for this season, but names were already flying around about permanent replacements. And that he would look to an external hire in the summer.

What do you think the likelihood is of big moves being made before a permanent replacement is hired?

Does Cronin have the authority to make a huge move?

They must have gotten some interviews with candidates already though. Is Cronin going to be empowered to make moves? Because the season is not going well and there are a number of players who's future is not certain. They can't just continue on the current path and expect things to be okay.

"Deal Coming Soon!"

The playoff streak is exactly what Neil hid behind.

The Blazers squeaked in 8 consecutive times*
meh that's not true. Finished in the top 5 four times and had 50+ wins three times. It's not a contender and it's not entirely his contribution, but it coulda been worse. My biggest problem with Neil was his lack of creativity and conservative nature of his dealings. Dude NEVER took risks. I figured that was a directive from ownership, but it was also a way for him to just skate by without getting fired.
