What an absolute mental midget. Figured I’d check to see what he was sub tweeting and liking after the game and come to find his page is gone.

Get this bum off the roster.

ah really. he blocked me a while ago because i said he should stop being a foul machine so i couldn't tell lol

You think a player should be off the roster because he deleted/suspended his twitter account? I say good for Nurk, focus on the game and not social media and the barrage of negative comments after every loss or even positive ones after wins. Nurk is up and down, hot and cold, always has been and always will be. No one was complaining about him during the winning streaks where he was playing his ass off.

If you think I want him off the roster because he deleted his twitter, you obviously don't have eyes. The guys has all the physical talent in the world, but is a completely and utter pussy. It's been over 3 years and he still can't perform a simply jump stop because he's scared of his leg snapping, and he CONSISTENTLY gets punked by players half his size.

You put Eubanks mindset in Nurk's body and you have an allstar. I understood resigning him not to lose an asset for nothing potentially, but I've said for the last 2-3 years we won't win anything with Nurk at center and I've never felt more confident. A great screener and good defender, but he is too slow-footed and mentally weak to ever be a part of a true contender.

It's just classic Nurk. He's a frontrunner, when things are good he'll troll and talk shit like he does to Westbrick (well deserved) but as soon as things get tough he tucks tail and runs.

Downgrading on talent and upgrading on physical fit with this roster at the center position would make a significant difference alone.

Social media can only hurt Nurk, not help him. Getting rid of it was a great move.

I applaud him for it.

*Writes a thread title named "nurk deleted his Twitter*

*Main point of thread is about him deleting Twitter*

*Says to get him off of the team*

*Fails to understand why someone would connect those two strings and says "you're not using your eyes*

I giggled at that and stopped reading the rest of this. Thanks for the laugh.

I just want to say that even during the win streak I wanted Nurk and Ant gone. Nurk just makes absolutely no sense for Chauncey's defensive schemes and was/is still doing the same bullshit offensively that has always driven me nuts and Ant is and always will be a bad fit next to Dame. If Michael Jordan mentored someone with his exact same skill set, just not quite as good and not the leader he was, that would be a great back court... can't say the same for our guy Dame. (wasn't supposed to rhyme)

Twitter got my daughter $255,000 for college FAMS! Depends on how you choose to use it.
She would have gotten that without Twitter Jon....my son got a full scholarship with emails and a cell phone...not Twitter...choices....your daughter got the scholarship because of her talent, not social media bro...YOU got famous from Twitter though, right?

Social media is not the enemy sir. Use it correctly, don’t be afraid of it. Embrace the technology.
I saw it govern half the country with lies for 4 straight years....fuck embracing that. I'm fine with the two social media outlets I use, one being here and the other my own channel. Other than that you don't need that shit to do anything you want to do bro...it's like video games...unnecessary addictions. Technology is better off without Twitter, Facebook or Truth Social. This will throw you for a loop....I don't carry my phone around with me all day...it sits on my desk where my landline used to...I'll throw it in the car if I go to town but other than that...it's not your life. You email institutions for Pell grants, etc and fill out actual forms.....I've never seen a place accept a job application or school application via Twitter. Then again I don't use it. It's not my enemy any more than reality TV....I just don't pay attention to either.

I can agree with both sides on the Twitter being useful.

If used correctly, Twitter and social media can be both a great stress release and get you a career. It's why there's so many "social media manager" positions for a LOT of businesses and also for high schoolers wanting to get that school scholarship etc.

But it is ALSO a cesspool and if everyone left it, we would all adapt again like before we had it.

The best thing to do is to block people who are ignorant or pushing disinformation. It's made Twitter much easier to be on.

So I can easily see @THE HCP s side and the benefits but totally see @riverman side too. There's a happy little medium there for both.

Thats not a badge of honor.
It is for me. I see the advantages of technology. I also see the degradation of social interaction, the increase in selfishness, and the disappearance of consequences for one's actions.

The more time one spends interacting with a device, the less time they spend interacting with the physical universe. (Yes, I understand that in quantum physics, there is no physical universe...we'll call it the energy field universe).

The problem is, the brain may be stimulated....but the body interacting with the brain areas that develop speech recognition, facial awareness, and other such important aspects of human communication, are actually degrading as a whole in our society. I work in retail and the amount of folks who walk in my store and cannot even communicate at a basic level or be a functioning member of society, is astounding. Sadly, that person is likely quite adept and feels quite comfy communicating on the net and in social media. It saddens me.

I also think it is very different for those who grew up without it at first, and brought it into their life later on.....than it is for those who's parents stuck a phone or laptop in their hands while they were they were still developing socially. Here is the sad part of all this.....in the very near future (another 20 years or so?)....the only place a young person will be able to discover what life was like before cell phones and rampant social media, will be through their phone or social media.

In the end, I am not finger pointing at those who live their life through social media....but I absolutely wear the fact that I have never been on Twitter/Instagram as a badge of honor.

I read a thread started by you, with the title 'Nurk deleted his twitter', talk in your only post of the thread about how he needs to be off the team leaving the reader to assume this is the reason you want him gone, giving no other explanation for why he should be traded/cut but I'm the one that needs to get my eyes checked? I really love this place and the rational, thought provoking discussions we can have, and then there is this kind of thread.

Great post. My family around the world stays connected and tight because of social media. I love it. Found a long lost brother because of it.

At 72 never been on face book, twitter or IG. I spend much time on this site and sometimes to much, can't imagine more time on others.
I still call my kids and grandkids but I also text them too. I admit short lines of communication with tex is a nice creature comfort.

My daughter in law has 15K pics on her I phone. I fell out of my chair when she told me that.

Twitter is as much of a cesspool as you choose to make it. Follow who you want and ignore the rest. If you leave yourself open to anything that offends you, that's on you.
Twitter is more than just me logging onto it.

I've been "on it" since 2007, but I rarely visit the site or the app, and I even less likely post.

BUT... it gets cited as an indicator of public opinion in other channels. It turns into a circle jerk for crazy people. It draws in people to become radicalized and hate people who aren't in agreement with them over 140 characters, or because they liked or retweeted the wrong thing. Politicians use it to influence policy and rally their base, their opponents, and the public... in a stupid format that was intended for SMS technology.

It's not just that if I don't care about Twitter it won't affect me or my life, let alone that if I just follow SOME users, it'll be just fine.

It's a malignant force in culture and in our lives and it is unique on social media due to its format and its long-time intention of being a broadcast platform, rather than a personal stage for acquaintances to stay up to date.

So. Yeah. Cesspool.
