How did I manage to go for a run every morning last year without a phone or a watch? Maybe my sneakers have LTE?
Seriously - I really am interested to see if there is any real application to this or if it is really a solution looking for a problem. I can understand it if the thing could project the image onto something and can recognize the input through something else (voice or touch on projected surface) - because at that point you do not really need a phone, but otherwise? Seems like a very niche need for this - but, maybe I am just not seeing it.
Took me a while to convince myself that having smart-speakers connected to a smart home is something that I need - but I am still delighted every time I use them - so maybe there is something there.
I dont like to be without my phone, especially in case something happens with my kids and they need to get a hold of me. With previous Apple watches, you had to have your phone near the watch or be on WiFi to make a call and receive text messages. Now you dont. I know for me it would be convenient to only have to wear a watch if I was doing an active activity instead of having my big ass phone in my pocket or a water sport and I dont want to take the chance of getting my phone drop to the bottom of a lake/river. I know its not necessary, but a big step in getting more people to want it. It also sounds like another advantage to the watch having cellular data is for streaming music while working out etc.
