2023 NBA Draft

Honestly, we probably won't be very good next season. Kind of happy there is a possibility of a generational talent. Maybe.

He can make some difficult low percentage shots.

Is he a tall version of CJ?

Not looking forward to wasting a whole year at the chance of getting him. But probably no better alternative.

Such a deep draft and a bunch of guys to still be excited about. Here’s a guy I’d love to have:

Baba Miller (SF/PF)
6’11
7’2 wingspan

He will be at FSU this year. Between Isaac, Barnes, PatWill, I’ve always liked the forwards coming out from there. At one point, this guy was a 6’2 guard. He reminds me of Ousmane Dieng. In a weak draft, Dieng went 11. But I’ve seen Miller as low as the mid 20s in mocks. If he miss the playoffs, I don’t even think I’d mind us grabbing him with the lotto pick, as I suspect he’ll be up there at the end of the season.

If we insist on keeping Nurk as our starting C, Miller makes perfect sense to put next to him in the long run. He is 6’11 but can guard the wing position. On offense, he handles the ball well and does show promise as a 3 point shooter. Once he puts on weight, he should be a very good rim protector as well.

Seems very much like a Mike Schmidtz kind of guy. The league seems to be trending towards the 2 big lineup again, and I’m here for it.

I'm fine with tanking and giving Sharpe a ton of minutes but that only happens if we have injuries.

I don’t think we need to tank to have a lotto pick this year. We can likely still be trying to compete for a playoff spot and end up 10th.

Yeah but if we're going to be in the lottery we should really try for that first pick versus the 10th haha

I think we'd have to sit about 7 players for the entire season in order to be bad enough to challenge for the top spot.

If we start the season bad we can tank hard and hope to get lucky lol

BTW, calling teenager a "generational talent" is the sportswriter equivalent of a salesman screaming "have I got a deal for you!" The more hysterical the hype, the more I am betting on him being a failure writ large.

LeBron, Luka, you usually know they’re a generational talent before they hit 20.

Wtf that’s actually stupid as f lol. We’re not going to out-tank 10+ teams at the beginning on the season.

I mean if you’re going to literally hope for injuries to this roster early so we start tanking for a better chance at #1, then I hope you feel good about yourself doing that.

But I wouldn’t be against tanking earlier if we can’t get it done though. In the last 23 games, we play NO, ATL, BOSx2, PHI, NOx2, LACx2, CHI, MIN, MEM, GSx2. We also play SACx2, DET, and NY and depending on where they are in the standings they could also be lose-able games. Not sure what our SOS is at that point, but I imagine it’s gotta be one of the hardest ones. If we’re around 10, you show Dame that we did a bad job of tanking and landed Sharpe and convince him to sit out early for one more year.

That’s the only way I’d embrace the tank this season. I don’t even want to think about tanking until a Grant extension is locked up.

So how does the draft project over picks #2-10?

If we decide to tank I'd rather not just go for the #1 pick; instead we should tank because there are multiple exciting options.

I wouldn't be surprised if we are a bottom 5 team in the west even when trying to win.... if so might as well pivot early to tanking. Maybe start of December we will know?

Some teams have rings, others have dreams. Portland is forever in the latter group. That we’re considering tanking for a whole season to get a 33 percent chance of drafting this guy is all you need to know.

Unless Dame got a season-ending injury, we will not tank. If we did with him healthy, he will feel disrespected and ask out.

I don't think this draft is as deep as the 2022 draft.

Are you talking about the first round or just the lottery? Wayyyyyy too soon to know that. For example, Oregon's freshman Ware is slated at 12. I have no idea how he will turn out but unlike their other highly-ranked centers, this kid seems to be better suited for the NBA IMO. But again way too early to know.

Dariq Whitehead is 6’6
The Thompson twins are 6’7
Brandon Miller is 6’9
GG Jackson is 6’9
BaBa Miller is 6’11
Anthony Black is 6’7
Dillon Mitchell is 6’8
Leonard Miller is 6’10

I was just looking at height. Those are the heights of abunch of guys who can fall in the lotto, with more names throughout the first round. There will be talent in the front court available this draft.
