So how does the draft project over picks #2-10? If we decide to tank I'd rather not just go for the #1 pick; instead we should tank because there are multiple exciting options. I wouldn't be surprised if we are a bottom 5 team in the west even when trying to win.... if so might as well pivot early to tanking. Maybe start of December we will know?
Some teams have rings, others have dreams. Portland is forever in the latter group. That we’re considering tanking for a whole season to get a 33 percent chance of drafting this guy is all you need to know.
Unless Dame got a season-ending injury, we will not tank. If we did with him healthy, he will feel disrespected and ask out.
Are you talking about the first round or just the lottery? Wayyyyyy too soon to know that. For example, Oregon's freshman Ware is slated at 12. I have no idea how he will turn out but unlike their other highly-ranked centers, this kid seems to be better suited for the NBA IMO. But again way too early to know.
the goal isn't to be bad enough to get the most lotto balls, it's to be lucky enough to win the lotto STOMP
Consensus #2 in the 2023 draft is a 6'2 190lb PG (Scoot Henderson). After that it's murky but thought to be a good one. STOMP
Dariq Whitehead is 6’6 The Thompson twins are 6’7 Brandon Miller is 6’9 GG Jackson is 6’9 BaBa Miller is 6’11 Anthony Black is 6’7 Dillon Mitchell is 6’8 Leonard Miller is 6’10 I was just looking at height. Those are the heights of abunch of guys who can fall in the lotto, with more names throughout the first round. There will be talent in the front court available this draft.
There’s difference between the organization considering tanking and the fans wanting their team to tank. The Rockets, Spurs, and Pistons all will be tanking, what group are they in? Surely, not forever in the latter like us right? Not that I’m in favor of tanking starting game 1. Just think that’s kind of a wild statement to make considering POR has a ring while other teams in the projected lotto like ORL, CHA, UTA, etc don’t have a ring.
I can't remember the last NBA team that "tanked" that wasn't actually trying to rebuild. There have been MLB teams that tanked with no intent to rebuild, but not any NBA teams I can think of. IMHO, the term "tanking" is grossly over-used. If a team makes a move to get better, even if it doesn't work out, that isn't tanking. That term should be limited to teams (EG Oakland A's or the old Montreal Expos) who intentionally lost games because they believed it would improve their financial bottom line.
I like how you make it sound like this is the teams thoughts and not just people on a message board. Good work.
The next Zubac - except Zach is 7’4” Elite rebounder His lateral quickness will be an issue at the next level. His feel/iq is there though. 2RP target.
Reminds me of the guy named Haas they had a couple years ago who was a giant like that. But he never made it to the NBA
