Anyone else excited about the fact that the Ducks are actually ranked in the AP poll for the first time since...Hell, I have no idea...
A 9 point win at UCLA. 16-2 5-0 Keep it up and the Ducks will be dancing for the first time in 5 years!
More like the Bryce Taylor/Malik Hairston/Marty Luenen/Tajuan Porter 'daze'. Crosswhite never played with Porter.
I would argue that this road win over UCLA is more impressive than their home win over Arizona. Ducks should be favored in every remaining game on their schedule. Is it unreasonable to think that this Duck team could go 11-2 the rest of the way and finish the regular season 27-4?
Probably, but with 3 wins already on the road, I don't think that 24-7 heading into the Pac-12 tournament is unreasonable. I hope you're right, though! 24-7 with wins against @UNLV, @ UCLA, and at home against Arizona (and ASU??) would be worth a seed from 3-5 in the NCAA tournament in whatever regional the Ducks are placed in this year.
you see them going just 8-5 the rest of the way, with Colorado being their toughest remaining opponent? Come on man--buy in!!
Ducks jumped 5 more spots in the new AP poll, up to 16th, one spot ahead of Altman's former haunt. I'm starting to get the feeling that we may be looking for a new head basketball coach this spring.
"A guy like Altman"? What exactly do you mean by that? Do you think that he doesn't have the chops or desire to be a big-time coach at a big time program? IMO, if the ducks approach 30 wins this season (which is absolutely not outside the realm of reason), Altman is going to be a highly desirable commodity. If there are any decent openings, I would not be shocked to see him jump.
Nothing about the guy shows signs to me that he has a desire to just keep going from job to job around the country. Sometimes when you have something good you just let it ride out. He reminds me of Mark Few in that sense. I could be wrong.
Yeah, I think Zags was actually complimenting Altman. A guy who stayed at Creighton for a long time before moving to Oregon. I just don't see him as a job hunter, just like Mark Few has resisted even the allure of returning to Eugene.
PapaG and MickZagger seeing eye-to-eye? Wow, Altman really is a miracle worker! Kum-Bah-Yah, my Lord...Kum-Bah-Yah...
Decent win tonight. Trying to get more into College B-Ball, it just clicked that I could catch the game on Pac12 net
Bad week for ranked teams, which makes it a good week for the Ducks' ranking. #15 New Mexico lost yesterday; #13 Michigan State lost today; #12 Minnesota lost twice this week, as did #11 Kansas St; and #9 Butler dropped a game earlier this week to LaSalle. I think Oregon will get all the way up to #11, possibly even to #10 if the pollsters decide to drop Arizona down below the Ducks (as they should).
