Van Gundy is a basketball coach by trade. He is also a good friend. Nothing surprising.

He obviously doesn't want to work for this "great" organization. Nor is he intimidated in any way to put a happy face on crappy dealings.

Why does he bag on Bulls' management for treatment of coaches and not other organizations?

I am interested in your spin... I mean take... on this.

The Bulls' Winning Percentage this season is the third best in the Paxson era.

Winning is easy, just as Vinnie.

Sorry, but I have no interest in Hoiberg as head coach. He's no coach K. He's no Thibs, either.

No offense, but if you really wanted my spin/take, you'd realize that I already provided it. I'll repeat it.

As a basketball coach, Van Gundy overestimates the importance of that job. As Thibodeau's former boss and good friend, he's likely attentively listened to Thibodeau's complaints about how Bulls management doesn't adequately appreciate his efforts.

Ok, but I asked why Van Gundy voices this kind of opinion about the Bulls but no other team.

It's not like Thibs is his only friend.

Can GarPaxDorf, any of them, just go down and fire Thibs RIGHT NOW??

Why is Kirk Hinrich on the floor? Let Moore be the backup PG, let Snell run the point, let Niko or Noah run the point.

Hinrich is so bad, it's just downright laughable. Yet Thibs just keeps on running him out there, the team be damned.

At least Kurts minutes will be around 10.

GarPaxDorf gave the guy more than vet minimum AND a player option for next season.

    Oh. My. God.

Kirk with the 23 foot 6 inch jumper. The absolute longest 2-point shot you can take. With plenty of time left on the shot clock.

Thankfully, Thibs FINALLY pulls him with 8 1/2 minutes left in the game, if anyone is at the game can you please go Gillooly on him?

kirk is awful. We used to put up with stretches like this because he played defense every now and then. Those days have passed

Kirk's level of play has sank so low that his intangibles no longer make up for his lack of shooting and general inability to help the offense in any way. And as you already mentioned, his defense isn't even any good nowadays.

There is just no excuse for Kirk to be playing ahead of E'Twaun Moore now. ET was brought in for the possibility that Kirk's tank would be on empty this season, but Thibs just flat-out refuses to play Moore at PG for some unknown reason.

I've been waiting for Thibs to play Moore at point guard too. I think Thibodeau used him there for a play tonight when he went offense-defense at the very end of the game.

Good catch SST, according to the official box score Moore played 11 seconds in the 4th quarter, going in for Brooks on defense twice:

    :35.5 SUB: Moore FOR Brooks

    :29.0 SUB: Brooks FOR Moore

    :08.5 SUB: Moore FOR Brooks

    :03.7 SUB: Brooks FOR Moore

During his first three seasons, Moore played ~715 minutes at point guard, which is why I can't understand why Thibs keeps on playing Kirk no matter how horrible he looks.

I've heard that JVG and Thibodeau are friends. I haven't heard that JVG and anyone else are friends.

In any case, Thibodeau whines to his friend Jeff about how the man is keeping him down. Jeff grabs his mic and gives his pal's bosses what for. Seems simple enough.

Yup, Moore is now the defensive replacement at PG. Good deal.

The funny thing is, if Jeff actually believes all of this negative stuff about the Bulls' front office, and if he and Tom are such good friends, why wouldn't Jeff warn Thibs and advise him to run away from the Bulls' job as fast as he could?

Van Gundy didn't tell Thibs not to take a job with a team that "over the course of time, they’ve been unfriendly and they haven’t been pro-coach.

I think you go all the way back to Doug Collins’ time here, then Phil Jackson, and go on and on and on. So I don’t really feel the need to reiterate too much. That’s what I said. That’s what I believe.”

Basic common sense dictates that either:

    - Jeff isn't much of a friend, because he didn't warn Thibs not to take a coaching job with a team that is "unfriendly" and "not pro-coach"
    - Thibs doesn't put much stock into what Jeff says, because he ignored his advice and took a job with a team whose front office is "unfriendly" and "not pro-coach"
    - Thibs is a masochist who likes working for an employer that treats him like shit, and in fact he enjoys it so much that after his first two years of being abused, he signed up for another four years of abuse

I guess it's possible that the Bulls' front office isn't full of assholes, but we all know that can't be true </sarcasm>

Seems like the FO really overpaid for Hinrich. They certainly signed him to a contract of a veteran guy who is still going to be logging a decent amount of minutes.

Looks like he should not even be on the roster anymore. He'll pick up that player option I assume, yes? Why did they offer him a player option? Yeesh.
