The Knicks waived him. We have too many SFs as it is but we can't miss this opportunity, he's a great talent and would fit us perfectly. The perfect complimentary SF, smart, efficient, good decision maker, does everything well. Sign him Neil!
He is good. He got in trouble off the court so they may have soured on him but he's a very good basketball player. If he wasn't playing behind Melo he'd be well known by now. He's maybe not all star potential but I saw him once or twice in SL and was very impressed.
He plays in the mid-range and is effective from there or taking the ball inside. I think he's a good rebounder and defender. High basketball IQ, good decision maker, plays within the team. A very good player.
what trouble did he get into??? So he's a very good player? In 56 NBA games he's shot 35% from the field and 26% from 3pt. That's HORRIBLE. Like, worse than Tony Allen horrible. He's good at taking the ball inside?? He's an average finisher at the rim for a SF (55%) and awful from 3-9 feet (33%). Good rebounder? His per 36 rebound average is 5.5. That's average to below average for a SF. Good decision maker?? Over his career he has more turnovers than assists. Good defender? He has a -1.3 DBPM. Effective from the midrange? He shoots 18% of his shots from 16ft to the 3pt line he only shoots 20%. He barely shoots from 10-15 feet (5% of shots), and is horrible (33%) from 3-9 feet. So how exactly is he good when he's sucked at everything over a solid sample size (almost 800 minutes)???
1) He had injuries. 2) Scroll to the date 2015-12-30 http://prosportstransactions.com/basketball/Search/SearchResults.php?Player=Cleanthony Early&Team=&BeginDate=&EndDate=&ILChkBx=yes&NBADLChkBx=yes&InjuriesChkBx=yes&PersonalChkBx=yes&DisciplinaryChkBx=yes&LegalChkBx=yes&Submit=Search
Maybe he just had a bad year. I still believe in him. If you're talking his numbers this year then maybe that incidence got into his head. Before that the Knicks were in the playoff picture. He was very impressive in both summer leagues I saw him in
Were talking career numbers from the 2014-15 and 2015-16. Dude, it's summer league. I could drop 10 in summer league.
His numbers in the NBDL: http://stats.nbadleague.com/player/#!/203921/ Very solid numbers in limited minutes. I would really want him as the backup SF and then use our too-many SFs in trade/s
You know who he reminds me of? Trevor Ariza. Or even moreso, a player that was once on the Lakers, Devin Ebanks. Both very good backup SFs
