    Your stats apply to "non-high-risk groups", which excludes various people. And IIRC, HIV was an exponentially greater problem in the African-American community.

    Magic's story is far more likely that he's been gay all his life, married to have kids and to hide his being gay, that coming out of the closet would do great harm to his career.

    Unless you can provide some evidence of even a handful of female groupies who claim to have had sex with him...

    Well I saw your evidence and it used amorphous language and quite situational stats.
    And he's had sex thousands of times in a pretty slutty town with gorgeous women, at the top of his game when sex education wasn't quite as prominent.

    The odds say he'd have had to have had sex with an infected woman 500 times without a condom or 5000 times with.

    Even if he had sex 5000 times with women, the chances they all were HIV positive is an absurd assumption.

    Without a condom with a woman is risky behavior (if only pregnancy risk, considering what paternity would cost him).

    The odds on getting HIV from an infected male, not using a condom, is 1 in 50.

    Depends on which type of women, and how valid these numbers are. Again he is in his prime in an environment with women who aren't "average" in various ways. Plus there's always birth control or abortion (especially in such a liberal place?) which may entice him to initiate sex without a condom. There's a lot to consider I think.

    Well from the start I've always considered it, I'm just commenting on how much conviction is appropriate. This "1 in 5 million" reference seemed out of place.

    Agreed, particularly since at least one of his partners was a (female) porn star. I think that qualifies as "high risk".

    It's not hard to figure out. Where are all his teammates who got HIV from the same groupies? How about other players in the league from the same time period?

    The porn star's name is Heather Hunter, and she's been tested and is not HIV+. So she couldn't have given it to him.

    There's about 1M total HIV infections in the US to date, including deaths. The population is 300M. The odds someone is high risk is about 1 in 300 or better (1 in 400 or 1 in 500 perhaps).

    Magic was probably in the top 1-5% of sexual activity even amongst his peers, and I'd bet he's been with more than just one porn starish girl.

    Anyway I don't know what the problem is, I'm not ruling out anything, just keeping certain things in perspective.

    I certainly can't say that he couldn't be gay. Who knows? However, I can imagine an NBA star would be more likely to engage in all kinds of things that are far riskier than your average one night stand.

    This might be crude but oh well...

    To figure his risk factors for hetero sex.


    If stereotypes are likely true, Magic likely has a larger than average penis.
    Magic get's plenty of oral sex from small women who scrape the fragile skin of his penis with their teeth.
    Magic has anal sex with HIV infected woman while not having recovered from cuts on penis.

    Magic gets HIV.

    Really gross to talk about but it seems way more likely than your average male.

    It is all speculation anyway and doesn't really matter.
