OT Either stop locking threads or close the OT forum down

I'm tired of having a discussion and a couple people get pissed off about something that doesn't have anything to do with the original topic.

Also, this is the OT forum. It has ALWAYS been a source of conflict and heated debate. If we're going to lock down every thread that has arguments in it, why even have a fucking OT forum in the first place?

Either delete posts, ban posters, or just get rid of the forum entirely because this is fucking lazy moderating.

Thanks for your input. I closed it because I'm failed at trying to get it back on track and wasn't sure what to do. Other staff members had tried and it resulted in people complaining about them. The discussion was ugly. Myself and others had deleted and edited multiple posts in that thread. Nothing seemed to help. I even tried to ask people to move things to more of a discussion instead of accusations and insults and that failed horribly. I don't have time right now to babysit that thread. I will come back to it later and delete some threads and try and get it back on track.

Well the bottom line is simple. Dviss can actually be racist. Dviss can make jokes about white people but as soon as we make a joke on the black stereotype, it’s the most racist shit, threads get locked, comments get deleted and the black victim wins again, free speech is fucked. I locked a thread 2 weeks ago and just now. It's not a very common occurrence. I think it's better to try and reboot a conversation then to boot a person. In that thread the following moderating actions were taken, editing, deleting, discussing, and then when all else failed I locked the thread. It wasn't like I just locked without trying anything else.

By the way I didn’t call dviss one thing at all. He was just referring to the other day when I made a joke about his boys in the hood, speaking of inner city crime on the gun topic which he didn’t want to address. It was a joke. I’m not that out of touch. Yet he brought it back up after a few days, I was just responding. Dviss wouldn’t of said that shit to my face and that’s what the difference is in person. Is what it is though.
