So by those measurables, Henderson was better....right?

Better stats across the board sans assists on a better team.

Hibbert would have helped us take another step forward, for sure

The assists were why we brought him in. Not the scoring. The DRTG is disappointing though. He used to be a solid defender.

Turner is our most consistent defender, I don't care what the stats say. There's no one stat that can quantify an individual's defensive ability. Defensive rating included.

It's like when someone throws a +/- at me to argue about an individual player. Swat that shit. Get it out of my face.

I think his DRTG is bad because he hasn't played with a true center yet with us. I bet Nurk has raised everyone's DRTG.

I agree I think he's been effective, esp on the perimeter. I'm salivating to see Turner, Nurkic and Aminu out there at the same time. That might actually be an effective defensive trio.

This teams defense as a whole is so bad even good defenders look bad.

How much of that defensive rating is due to the fact that our overall defense sucked for most of this season?

Exactly. Didn't we established that DRTG was more of a team stat than an individual stat since the formula is based on matchups that can change (i.e defenses that switch)

    Exactly.

How long have we heard about how Olshey let Barton go for nothing. We get the best center our team has seen in awhile and gets zero credit for it.

He did? No one has mentioned it...I didn't know. You'd think there would be several threads about Nurkic already. I wonder what Olshey's second acquisition of any substance in 20 months will be.

Were you one of those guys that helped run obamagolfs.com while he was President? A question for you, why do the quantity of trades matter? Isn't it the quality of trades that truly matter? I remember Isaiah Thomas making tons of Trades for the Knicks, and Khan for the Wolves too, and how'd those work out for them again?

If one analyzes pretty much every trade that Olshey has made as the Blazers GM, they've all been well reasoned and measured trades. He's conservative by nature, what I have noticed with his MO is picking diamond in the rough kinds of players that are under achieving on another team. There's so many examples of this in his history that it seems a pretty obvious strategy as this point. He's a very low risk, moderate to high reward kind of guy, you can see it in the DNA of how he operates, and to me that is a very wise thing that makes a lot of sense for a team like Portland, very moneyballesque.

Sometimes it pans out really well, sometimes not, some examples I can immediately think of that worked our are Rolo, Nurk, Harkless, and probably others too. And then other times it doesn't, the two obvious examples I can think of late on a Wednesday (I am sure the Olshey haters will have a legion of other examples) are Afflalo, Ezeli and TRob, and in all of those situations I do not remember us losing much in terms of real value. Frankly anyone that says Olshey is a bad GM IMO feels that way because they prefer GM's that are more willing to take substantial risks, such as say trading for Cousins or something. Olshey doesn't operate that way unless it's pretty sure fire, think CP3 trade when he was in LAC, and frankly I think that would be a very foolish way to run a small market franchise like the Blazers.

I am happy with him and hope he sticks around for a while, I dig the relative stability and his measured approach to managing the Blazers.

Ok the first few times I saw this post of yours I ignored it but nah u ain't getting off that easy pal.

Tell me SPECIFICALLY what he should've done instead. I want SPECIFIC names and SPECIFIC moves.

And use reality. the cards he was dealt. So obviously not something like "he should've signed whiteside."

Apparently it's very, very, very important to Olshey backers to control this thread. The thread is titled Fire Oslhey so that people can state their complaints about him. But megalomaniac Olshey backers want silence in the thread. It's important to their threatened egos that they hear no disagreement with their few voices, echoed as if in a cave to sound more numerous than they are.

So I think I'll keep posting to it, just to bother the dictators. I love to be a thumbtack underfoot of self-proclaimed authorities, watching the pompous windbags turn red in the face.

Better to use cause I say so?

I don't completely disagree about the stats thing, but at some point, they have to mean something.

I also think Aminu has been our best defender....until Nurkic, anyway.

So let me ask you this, do you think Olshey should be fired?
