Dame was a four year collegiate player.
I was assuming you were thinking this pick would be instant Dame.
A miriad of things can potentially happen between now and four years now. To say there is no other way to be contenders in four years other than having this pick pop and be Dame2.0 doesn't make sense to me. There can be many many things that can happen. Disgruntled stars for cheap. What if Butler is available next year?
Sooo many intangibles i cant accept the premise of the question. Thus, I cant find anything maddening. All teams are roller coasters and all teams have ups and downs over the years.
I understand and have the same passion to win as you. I just refuse to let not winning it all make me perpetually annoyed with the team.
When is the last time we acquired a disgruntled star for cheap? Probably Scottie Pippen and it was over 20 years ago.

When was the last time we attempted to acquire a disgruntled star?
We know the rumors a out PH and Butler and NO likely held that back.

Besides history doesn't define the barometer of the future. If it did, odds say we should do everything to trade the pick because the numbers say we likely wont hit in the draft.
To me, this team with OG would be very intriguing to a disgruntled star.
And if that is the metric, then we could equate that to drafting. We hit on Dame. Missed on Roy. Missed on Oden. Drafting is no more certain than the plethora of x factors that pop up throughout a season.

I find it perplexing that some cant find a positive light in this and are annoyed, unhappy or being driven insane by those of us who see this as improved beyond what we have had with Dame in the past.
I think the Grant trade is good. I think trading the 7th for role players is not good.

We missed on Roy?

The Warriors just won the title as a 3rd seed.
So many ways to answer this…. Where to start…..

Firstly…. The third seed is not the fourth seed. I know that’s obvious but it seems relevant.

Second…. The warriors are much much much more talented and have the championship experience to win as basically any seed.

Damn that’s a hot take and a half. Buckle up.

But were talking about winning it all and nothing less right? Seems straight forward to me. He missed almost as many games as he played never got out of the second round snd fleeced the team for a last contract.
As you can probably tell, I am not a big Roy fan.

I think he’s overrated and I get annoyed any time someone says we should retire his number, but he was rookie of the year and a three time Allstar. I don’t think that really fits the definition of a bust.

An admitted personal bias. With thst said, how many rings did he net the team??

You dont know that. We didn't know that Dame would be a Dame caliber player in his draft.

Anything is possible but how many Dame level players have been drafted since his draft?

I don't think any of the players in this draft will be at that level.

I did say I would be ok with taking Sharpe. He will be good. Dame good? No.

Also, why would you trade a top 10 pick for a player who can't stay healthy? Personally, I would rather off-load Nurk and Nas than add another player like OG who can't stay on the court!

Ja Morant, Embiid, Jokic, Kat, Booker, Jayson Tatum, Luka Doncic, Trae Young, Anthony Edwards, Lamelo Ball, giannis.

Some of these aren't at his level yet. Some are on their way. This doesn't include people like Jaylen Brown, Zach Lavine etc.

There usually is at least a few all stars in every draft. You just have to draft right.

Thing is, there have been players drafted since his draft.

Luka, Trae, Ja, just to name three. Anthony Edwards is a good player too.

You don't know if Sharpe (or anyone) "will be" Dame good.Remember, the biggest reason why the Nets made the trade was because their GM (etc) didn't think there would be anyone in that draft (at their position) that would be as good as Gerald Wallace.

OMG! I forgot all about making this amazing prediction!
