Made up years ago then by woke whitex
The letter X is cool. Math majors can't think without it. Every word should have one. Or at least work it into every sentence. Make it blatant, like Space-X. Or my favorite, se-x.

The history is all there. First came up in 2004.
I've always been more of a Bobcat fan myself.A linx is a member of the cat family.
Supporters say it promotes greater acceptance of non-binary Latinos by being gender-neutral and thus inclusive of all genders.[4][5] Critics say the term does not follow traditional grammar, is difficult to pronounce, and is disrespectful toward conventional Spanish;[6] the Royal Spanish Academy style guide does not recognize the suffix -x.[7] Both supporters and opponents have cited linguistic imperialism as a reason for supporting or opposing the use of the term

The X does feel like someone was trying too hard to be cutting edge and revolutionary.
I understand the social movement toward reconstructing the language, but at the very least they could have ended it with an E instead seeing as how it is the most gender neutral vowel in the Spanish language and falls along with the consonant-vowel structure of syllables you see in so many of the words.
Right idea, wrong execution. Though many people in Latin American cultures don’t want to move forward with any sort of change regarding this.
What is on that grill?Mi tio y mis hermanos all like it!!!!

Why does this matter?
Latine or Latinu is more correct grammatically.
Latinx maybe used by only 3-4% of the Hispanic/Latino population in the US, but that is some 2,000,000 people.
Many don't like latinx because it doesn't work with Spanish, as the language is based on masculine and feminine nouns, articles, and adjectives. Latinx therefore doesn't fit.
Most who use Latinx are youth who are attempting to make it more popular.
Seems it was a good intention made to invite inclusiveness. But, we all know about good intentions.
Latinx is used a lot in Portland
I'm thinking of adding some more X's to my name to sound cooler.
Natex Bishopx.
