I kind of liked Serial a little bit more. Seemed more objective. But the MAM courtroom drama was really good and so were all the twists.
Regarding Serial: At first I was like, this whole motive doesn't make sense. No 18 year old kid is going to kill his girlfriend for dumping him and hooking up with another guy. Then I thought about all the senseless shootings we have seen through the years, and decided, meh, who needs a motive any more? I thought Jay seemed shady, but then after hearing her recounting of talking to him I didn't know what to believe. I really doubt the timeline of when she was killed, but I can't say that Adnan's innocent. Imagine if he gets a new trial, and then cops a plea...
Going to give this series a pass. Honestly, so many series you see like this are like Rashomon. There's your story and then there's their version. And then there's the truth. It works out to be some sort of ultra justice system core-porn. I subscribe to David Fincher's theory that most people are deep down basically voyeurs or perverts. Personally I think the guy killed her. Not the kid but the guy. But I very much believe the prosecution and the judge played very fast and very loose. The police were desperate to get a conviction and they did whatever it took to get one. The documentary is not about guilt or innocence but did they get a fair trial.
I'll think about it. But I've lost the taste for those kind of programs as I've gotten older. When I was younger I couldn't get enough of them. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
No. I'm into historical or science documentaries lately. It's an amazing world we live in. We'll. When we are not destroying it. I saw one on nanotechnology recently that blew my mind. Also saw a documentary on the decay of the NY inner city in the 60's which led to the gang social structures and was the basis for hip hop culture. Amazing. Sent from my SGH-M919 using Tapatalk
It's called Rubble Kings and it's narrated by John Leguizamo. You can find it on Netflix. It's basically focuses on the gang cultures that spread up all around NY after poorly planned urban renewal projects tore the heart of the city. But it's more about the people who lived through it, esp the Puerto Rican leaders. You watch it going, "This is an amazing story. Why hasn't Hollywood made a story about this yet! And they absolutely did not. From top to bottom. Jury, Prosecution, Judge. Steven Avery jurors 'feared for their personal safety' if they didn’t convict subject of Netflix series, filmmakers say
