We had to send our last dog to heaven about a year ago. It took almost a full year before we were ready to get a new dog. Been following some of the local shelters online when Ariel popped up today. Went down and instantly bonded. She's really small and extremely shy. Her ears are scared from being bitten and one is healing from being torn. She's had a rough life. But she's cute, and now she's ours! We pick her up on Thursday because she's being fixed tomorrow. And while the Multnomah County Animal Shelter named her Ariel, she's only had the name for 2 days so we're going to rename her Ruby. Not sure why, she just seems like a Ruby.
Multnomah County Animal has a December sale every year. Adoption Fees = Day of the Month During Days of December Adoption Special Adopt a pet for $1 on December 1, $2 on December 2, $3 on December 3, and so on! All pets, seven months and older are eligible. Ruby was $26.
Yeah, I did that by happenstance when I went to a dog shelter with grandma. I soon found myself bonding with a grey American Pit Bull Terrier named George and he came home with me. That was many, many moons ago.
Awesome !!! What a sweet looking dog. I went to a shelter near me in CA two weeks ago. I need to move and get some other work affairs in order before I get a dog but I'm looking at getting a rescue dog in March. 6 month to 4 years and sweet mutt is what I'm looking for. can't wait.
I love stories like this. Redemption stories of course. Im sad so many animals are abused but it always brings joy to know when 1 finds a happy, loving home. I wish many blessing upon you and your new pal!
Dogs are certainly people. Emotionally, they're most certainly people. Again, they just aren't human. Just because that idiotic book Merriam Webster defines it as a human doesn't mean it's right. No we shouldn't start giving pets legal personhood, but we should certainly treat them better.
