    Did you see Baywatch?

I legit don't understand why The Rock is so universally well liked as an actor. The movies he's in usually aren't very good and he definitely can't be described as a good actor...

I watched a bunch of movies because I was on a plane. I'm not sure I can remember them all, but here goes:
Logan - okay, but not much of a plot and just gratuitously killing off decent people. Best thing about it was watching Patrick Stewart as Prof. X saying "fuck" a lot. Oh, and Stephen Merchant had the best line in his death scene.
Fantastic Beasts... - better than I expected, but that wasn't much. The outfits were the best part.
Rogue One - again, kind of gratuitous killing off of people. Are we forgetting that Star Wars is for kids? They did a better job faking Carrie Fisher than they did with Peter Cushing. Lacking moments of humor that make the old trilogy fun. And was Forest Whitaker just taking the piss with that wacky overacting?
Lego Batman - not as good as the Lego movie, which wasn't as good as everyone says. But Conan O'Brien was the Riddler, so that's something.
Your Name - best of the bunch by far. Check it out!

Nah but I will at some point. And will likely like it. I think Zac Efron is pretty talented too, even if he has a face you want to punch sometimes.

Obviously the rock isn't a christian bale level actor.

But he is so damn charismatic, he brings nostalgia to me because i loved watching him grow up, he is an amazing human being, he is hilarious and bad ass.

So i love movies like snitch, faster, the game plan, the furious movies, moana, walking tall, central intelligence etc.

This of it this way, arnold schwarzenegger was a bad actor, people still loved him. The rock is cut from the same genre, but infinitely more multifaceted.

The Rock is no where near Arnold's level. Arnold's movies were better because he was better. (Terminator, Terminator 2, Total Recall, Predator, True Lies, Commando, Conan, Running Man, Kindergarten Cop, The 6th Day, Last Action Hero, and most importantly, Jingle All the Way.)

None of the movies you mentioned are close to touching Arnold's top 5.

Rock's movies aren't close to those, that's a given. That isn't all on acting.

    "It's a tumor"

    "It's NAWT a TUMAH"

That's some good ass writing. I'll probably see Baywatch someday but I know it will suck because of the writing.

Idk man, i get it, i love those movies too but i prefer the rocks acting. Imo he is more versatile than just a few punchlines.

Peter Cushing CGI almost completely took me out of that movie.

It's not terrible, he's just playing himself most of the time and the movies wouldn't have been that good with another actor in his place.

He'll never be Denzel, I'm not even hinting at that.

No I get it, I mean The Rock seems like a really motivated and cool dude in person and I grew up watching him on his rise to fame in WWE and even one of his first action movies as an actor, forget what it's called but the one where he beats the fuck out of everybody with a piece of wood. Some people love these action movies, not knocking anybody for that but these action guys are generally shit actors. Jason statham I actually think is a better actor but it's still mediocre and his movies like the rocks are just entertaining most of the time, and they both play the same guy in all their movies. Is what it is. I would take statham over the rock though, personally

I like them both. They are a certain type of movie that i'm not watching for grade a acting.

If i'm talking about acting chops, christian bale, denzel, or even joseph gordon levitt, obviously statham and the rock aren't there.

But god dammit, they are good at what they do.

Did you not like the sly stallone, jet li or jackie chan movies back in the day?

rush hour jackie chan was interesting. Jet li also was dope but maaan I am more with keanu in john wick. Kinda tired of guys like the rock, feel like I have seen it a bunch. Same with statham actually. Felt like John wick was something completely different and keanu worked his ass off for that movie handling guns and what not. I see how these movies are entertaining to people, I just watched the latest fast and furious, I loved the first three way more and now it's out of control, it's still kinda entertaining. I don't know I guess I prefer movies with substance these days

Watched Manchester By The Sea.... truly heart wrenching stuff.

Also saw Infernal Affairs.... so much better than The Departed. Why are originals always better than the remakes?

Manchester by the sea was brutal but it deals with some crazy shit I think everybody can relate to. Just grief in general
