    Unfortunately, the guys I went to school with and became part of gangs, operated in strike first and with force without giving the opposition a chance to fight. It really was a brutal time in the public education school system.

    So, they fixed that! Turning the once dangerous school grounds in to the Killing zone where the evil doers can come, free of opposition to do their thing, killing our children all gathered for their pleasure, unprotected and very vulnerable.

    That would be most places in the U.S. and with millions of firearms at their disposal, unfortunately, it will keep happening.

    Exactly!
    So we should eliminate the Killing zones. Make it a high risk proposition again to come on school property with the intent to kill, unrestricted.

    So exactly how would that prevent a school shooting? The gun is in the car.

    No one would know you have a gun unless that is something that you went around and told everyone about.

    Which someone telling everyone that they have a gun in their car and know how to use it would one of the first things they look for in trying to determine who is a danger to the school.

    So as far as prevention goes it doesn't really mean much.

    Now as far as stopping a shooting already in progress, again, not sure that is going to do anything.

    There is a very strong chance that by the time you heard the shots being fired, got up, ran out of your classroom, then down the hall, out of the school, and finally out to your car to get your gun there a first responder is pulling up in the very same parking lot that you're now holding a gun in.

    Pure chaos, people running and screaming out of the school and you're the one running back towards the school with a gun.

    Guess who is going to become target number one with the police?

    Even if the cops aren't sure who the shooter is guess whose description everyone is going to give. Yours.

    So you're running around the school looking for someone to shoot and the police are looking for you to shoot.

    You have effectively prevented the police from looking for the actual shooter.

    You said this.

    How would a gun in the car prevent or stop a shooting at your school?

    For a gun to be used for prevention possible shooters would have to know that you have it. So either you would be showing people you have one or telling them you do. Which is exactly what this most recent shooter did in person and on social media. He told and showed everyone he had guns. If you don't tell anyone you have a gun in your car then it's not something that is for prevention.

    So that leaves using a gun to stop a shooting, but remember, it's in your car. That means leaving an active shooting to go and get your gun. You run to a shooting, a kid with a gun, and you are going to be thought of as the threat.

    Initial post updated.
    The essence;
    "An obvious answer, is to arm people in schools to protect the children. I think it is completely dysfunctional to allow these shooter gun free access to our children.

    I suspect the left, loves to use the opportunity, "calling for legislative action on gun control, saying it's "long overdue.". This includes the troll, Sly!! Taking hard direct action to protect the children would reduce, if not eliminate the opportunities.

    Some souls need to be searched here."

    Where have I called for legislative action on gun control?

    I haven't.

    You used an example of how you "packed" to school and kept it in your car. I'm asking how that would either prevent a shooting or stop one in progress and provided reasons and examples of how I don't believe it would do what you're claiming it would. That's not trolling.

    The psycho paddock set his up so nobody could shoot back. Wonder if the fact that people open carry here every day influenced him. I see people packing heat all the time. I even snuck up on a co worker and scared the shit out of him in Winco. I told him he needs to be more aware if he's gonna carry.

    Open carry seems weird to me. Even in dish-dash in AFG I didn't advertise. Why give away intel about your intentions or abilities?

    For any that care what I may have posted. I will repeat it here.

    "It has been more than 30 years since my youngest was in a public school. I really do not remember school shooting in that era or before.
    All though I and I suppose many other, had semiautomatic weapons with 30 round magazines further back than this. So I did not worry.

    Back when I went to school, it was not unusually at all to go to school with a weapon in the car while parking it at school. To go hunting directly after school. Guns were a normal part of our lives, a useful tool. Now when I entered the Navy, I found in Boot Camp, that the society I came from, had to be quite different than the one most of my Company had lived in. All but one other was from either Chicago or New York City.
    They did not know squat about guns, could not swim, and the list is long."

    This is a definition of a word that is quite descriptive of the posture some poster assume in this forum
    Can anyone guess the word?

    Definition;
    Taking more than usual time to learn or understand; lacking intellectual acuity
    "he was either normally stupid or being deliberately ------"
