In Orlando, intersection by Pulse Nightclub painted in rainbow as memorial to those who were murdered there. DeSantis had it painted out over objection of Orlando mayor, on orders from Fox personality turned Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy. He ordered all rainbow and other special memorial crosswalks painted out nationwide.

Can't keep planes from crashing so paint over rainbows.

Trump administration orders immediate cancellation of wind power project 70% complete. It would have powered 350,000 homes. Trump hates wind power so now it is a threat to national security.

So basically, since 1980, the United States has been steadily getting worse for work age adults versus other High Income Countries. Reagan lol, nothing new. However, since the 2008 Financial Collapse, the United States just stopped getting better at all for people under the age of 65.

Silver Lining: excess deaths from COVID are pretty much down to the noise floor of the data, which is encouraging at least.

The United States, just months before its 250th birthday as the world’s leading democracy, has tipped over the edge into authoritarianism and fascism. In the end, faster than I imagined possible, it did happen here. The precise moment when and where in recent weeks America crossed that invisible line from democracy into authoritarianism can and will be debated by future historians, but it’s clear that the line itself has been crossed.

I think many Americans wrongly believe there would be one clear unambiguous moment where we go from “democracy” to “authoritarianism.” Instead, this is exactly how it happens — a blurring here, a norm destroyed there, a presidential diktat unchallenged. Then you wake up one morning and our country is different.

Today, August 25, 2025, is that morning. Something is materially different in our country this week than last.

It’s here! It’s here! Rock bottom is here!

The CDC quietly scaled back a surveillance program for foodborne illnesses
As of July 1, a critical surveillance program is monitoring for only two pathogens instead of the usual eight.

A federal-state partnership that monitors for foodborne illnesses quietly scaled back its operations nearly two months ago.

As of July 1, the Foodborne Diseases Active Surveillance Network (FoodNet) program has reduced surveillance to just two pathogens: salmonella and Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), a spokesperson for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention told NBC News.

Before July, the program had been tracking infections caused by six additional pathogens: campylobacter, cyclospora, listeria, shigella, vibrio and Yersinia. Some of them can lead to severe or life-threatening illnesses, particularly for newborns and people who are pregnant or have weakened immune systems.

Monitoring for the six pathogens is no longer required for the 10 states that participate in the program, though those states aren’t precluded from conducting surveillance on their own.

Food safety experts worry that the move, which hasn’t previously been made public, could make it harder for public health officials to notice whether certain foodborne illnesses are rising and then slow response time to outbreaks.

FoodNet is a collaboration among the CDC, the Food and Drug Administration, the Agriculture Department and 10 state health departments. Its surveillance area covers roughly 54 million people, or 16% of the U.S. population. The network includes Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, New Mexico, Oregon, Tennessee and select counties in California and New York.

With Taylor Swift now formally engaged to Travis Kelce, Charlie Kirk decided she needs his advice. To wit: she can become a role model for girls belatedly by being a submissive wife and having lots of children.

Because merely being a tremendously successful artist and businesswoman who worked hard for what she achieved and controls her own career does not a role model make.

Those “successes” are cute but do not fulfill the one true purpose of womanhood: broodmare. Charlie knows we need More Christian Soldiers.
