"Only teams under the cap can renegotiate a contract, and the salary in the then-current season can be increased only to the extent that the team has room under the cap (and cannot increase the player's salary beyond the maximum salary). A renegotiation can only be used to provide a salary increase -- players can't take a "pay cut" in order to create more cap room for the team." http://www.cbafaq.com/salarycap.htm#Q59
I don't believe the players unions allows it to happen. They don't want players pressed into giving away money already agreed to. This isn't two independent parties entering into an everyday contract; it specific contract law rules spelled out in the CBA which gives the NBA an antitrust exemption.
What season do injuries NOT play a part? When has Dame stayed healthy? When has Winslow stayed healthy? When has Nurk stayed healthy? If everything went perfectly for the roster, of COURSE it would have been better. That's true of every roster in the NBA.
umm injuries are not black and white as you seem to indicate. Put up the amount of games missed by our starters up to the all Star break compared to the top ten best record teams in the nba and get back to me. Until then, little substance to your post without equating injuries into the context.
Until last season the answer to your second question is always. Dame didn't have one season in his first 9 where he missed more than 9 games. So I guess that's when.
https://firstsportz.com/nba-news-tr...-drops-huge-hint-about-the-superstars-future/ Im really starting to not like Shams…
“You have to wonder if he’s going to play another game for the Portland Trail Blazers,” Charania said. “I think this offseason is going to be one where Damian Lillard’s name is going to be at the forefront of a lot of trade discussions.” What a load of shit. Talking without saying a damn thing. The guy is a... sham? Total fraud.
I really think Joe either gets shit done around the draft that makes this team competitive next season or Dame will ask to be traded and we will trade him. I hope that Joe making a trade or two that gets us closer to contention with Dame is the more likely thing but I can't blame Shams for saying speculating about it when a lot of the people who post in this forum don't think it's likely.
I think Dame is going to be willing to wait to see what happens with the draft, but if we're not able to make something happen.... I could see us trading him. We just clearly don't have the juice to contend and I'm not sure I see a path to get there while Dame is still in his prime.
Shams was the asshole that said that the Blazers were forcing Payton to get Toradol shots in his abdomen. He said that and when it came out it was false he never printed a retraction. It was his false assertions in that article that was primary in leading the trashing of the Blazers...based upon lies and bad info fuck shams
I think the most likely scenario is that Dame has accepted that it might be impossible for Portland to build a contender in the next 3 years or so and he's OK with it yeah, it's possible he'll ask out, but he's smart enough to know there would be no guarantee he'd ever play in the finals if he was traded
I think there are definitely multiple paths to get there but I don't know if Joe is capable or if the team wants to leverage all of their future picks to get there. I don't think Dame needs us to be betting favorites to win the title I just think he needs to see us as having the best chance at getting there that we've had since he's been here which again, I'm not sure current ownership and management is capable of doing that or even if they're seriously interested in it. I guess we'll see in a few months.
