If you thought Connaughton was a bad defender, then just wait for Stauskas. Stauskas also shot 37% from Inside the arc.. what else can he do?
Yep. I'd much rather have kept the better player in Pat. Better defender, better rebounder, and just as good of shooter (if not better). PAT TS%= 0.54 PER= 9.3 WS/48= 0.080 BPM= -1.3 ORTG - DRTG = 0 (110 - 110) NIK TS%= 0.54 PER= 9.0 WS/48= 0.031 BPM= -4.0 ORTG - DRTG = -12 (101 - 113) Offensively, Nik barely gets more boards and assists than Pat - while everything else is very similar. Defensively, there's no comparison. Pat is much better..... which is a sad statement.
I just wrote Paul Allen a scotch-drenched email. After we meet for coffee or whatever, I'll let you guys know what he says. Cool.
Fine compare Nik's best season vs Pat's 16/17 season when Pat didn't have regular rotation minutes either. Here's a hint... the comparison looks even worse for Nik. EDIT: I just looked again and Nik played 2 seasons with Philly receiving regular rotation minutes, and still shows he's inferior to Pat.
But it's ok for you to pull his 3 point percentage, only in games where he played over 20 minutes ( he had 6 such games and they were all blowouts where his team got crushed), from his two team buried year and tout it as evidence he's a shooter? That's some pretty weak sauce my man. I don't think I'd be knocking anyone else's use of stats on this one.
I agree completely. I'm a Pat fan. But, I know he's just an average bench player. I was fine with the team moving on for a better player, but Sauce Castillo is not that player.
My comment was A-1, and yours was Worce, stershire. (pronounced like Chester, spelled like Stauskas) (My granny always said, if you have to explain a joke, don't tell it.)
I'm a little dismayed that you didn't go with the obvious pun; spelling Worcestershire with an "s" instead of a "c". Your intent was the same, but the execution was lacking, much like Nik Stauskas.
This move is baffling if looking at it in regard to talent of the players and the associated salaries. The absolute only way it makes sense is if it is kept in mind that Stauskas, Layman, Collins and J. Parker all have Mark Bartelstein as an agent. Is Olshey buttering up the agent of Parker?
Who knows what Olshey is thinking. He deserves a lot of criticism, but I guarantee he has a plan. His plan just might be falling apart.
Yeah I could see the Basketball minds at the Blazers being split on whether to commit long term to this group, or to blow it up. I'd imagine, just like these forums, there is proponents of both avenues to proceed. Admirably, they most definitely are a loyal group. Probably to a fault - See Stotts retains job - refusal to trade CJ, Dame or Both.
That important fact changes my whole opinion. I'm always impressed by a man with a plan, especially since I have a plan for HIM.
Don't get me wrong, I think we should bring in a GM who can get things done. I don't think Olshey is the one to do that. But, I'm sure he has a plan.
