From the trade thread.

Stemming from Kevin O'Connor. Says Sixers/Blazers/Thunder are "teams to watch."

Discussion starts around the 19 min mark : https://art19.com/shows/the-ringer-nba-show/episodes/ddead757-cf42-4b06-a989-d4e9ef81f259

They think Hawks have younger guys taking his role, but also compare him to Jimmy Butler's trajectory in CHI before he blew up.

Also we have this:
This rumor is 100% true.
I’m going to be very vague so I don’t blow up my buddies spot but...a close friend of mine works in the NBA and has had a close relationship with prince. The blazers are doing their homework on prince and are definitely interested

You want me to just move the Prince rumor posts from the trade ideas thread into this one?

My proposal would be something like this:

And our lotto protected pick going their way.

I know nothing about prince really... would this be a good move?

Mentioned in the other thread but Lowe brought up Prince and the Blazers earlier this season as well. I didn’t read too much into it at the time just because I didn’t think Atlanta would trade him. But looking at his numbers and contract situation, I could actually see it.

What we should do is expand the deal. They have expirings. I would love Lin or Dedmon. Even Vince Carter would be good in the locker room.

Prince would be a nice get but like any deal it depends on the cost. Maybe we can trade a bad knee for a bad ankle. :bgrin:

I really liked him as a target last year, but soured a bit this year. Kevin Heurter and Deandre Bembry are two fairly unknown players who have replaced him. But still, he's consistent and you can count on him for 12-15 ppg. He handles the ball more than you'd expect. I think his defense is overstated a bit, but on a good day, he's like Moe.

The other thing is that he's actually about 5 months older than Nurk, so I'm not sure there is much room for improvement. ATL is a wing factory so he might not be much better than he is now.

We'd get out of ET's contract a year earlier too. Lin has been surprisingly decent too.

It's the Simons + draft pick that makes it steep.

"Portland, too, would be willing to part with its first-rounder to add depth to a roster that badly needs help in the backcourt and on the wing. The Trail Blazers could be a player for Ross or Simmons, too. But sources tell SN that they have expressed interest in another player expected to be made available for a first-round pick: Atlanta point guard Jeremy Lin.

When the Hawks traded for Lin last summer, the hope was that he could be a veteran presence for the first part of the season for young point guard Trae Young, then could be swapped for a rebuilding asset to help the woebegone Hawks’ future. A first-rounder would do the trick."

Mhh something is going on with the Blazers and the Hawks

I think Oubre and Magic Harkless are good baselines for a Prince package. He’d also fit into the Vonleh TPE. We do have a full roster though. Send them Baldwin and one of Stauskas and Swanigan, plus our pick, top 20 protected. I think that’s fair.

Our first for an expiring Lin? That's brutal. Ain't no way JLin is fetching a first rounder on his own with his contract.

A little concerning that most of his stats per 36 have gone down over his career or at least not gone up. His shooting has improved though, especially 2 point shooting.

It's pretty easy to connect the dots that the Blazers need a wing upgrade and would definitely be interested in Prince. Since he still has one more year left on his rookie deal it also makes sense from a cap perspective.

I'm having a difficult time figuring out what Atlanta is doing. Is Prince just too old even on a rookie deal? Are they looking for more picks even though they have a pretty good stock pile of future 1sts? If so Turner and Trent/Swanigan plus a 1st for Lin and Prince would be a great move for us. They might make us take Plumlee back though instead of Lin. I don't know if that's worth giving up assets for.

If we want to give them Turner, I think we definitely need to take Plumlee back, even if we give them our first..

Just say no to any deal involving the Asian Black Hole.

People need to learn to look beyond the stats, and observe a player's effect on team success.

They'd have to REALLY like Baldwin to take on an extra $16 mil next year in order to get a (hopefully) low 1st rounder.

They’re rebuilding, they should be taking on contracts. Plus Turner becomes an asset next year that they can use to add another pick.

The ringer guys don’t think Atlanta needs Prince because he likes to have the ball in his hands and they’re prioritizing Collins/Young/Huerter instead. They also think Bembry can replace him.

If Olshey isn’t looking to dump a contract a first would work straight up for Prince since we still have the Vonleh TPE. That would however require cutting someone, unless we found a team willing to take on Baldwin/Stauskas/Swanigan without sending anything back.

That might actually explain why Baldwin and Swanigan are in the g league, and not the rookies. Showcase baby.

Swanigan please, i can't even Imagine that he has a future in the NBA

He's shooting 36.7% from 3 this year, shot 38.5% last year.
He's 6'8", 220 lb.
He turns 25 in March.

I don't know about his defense. I thought he had a good rep. on defense, but at least one poster here is skeptical.
