Rypien leads Boise State past No. 16 Fresno State 24-17

Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien etched his name in the Mountain West record books as the conference's all-time leading passer in both yards and completions. But the pro-style passer needed his feet almost as much as his arm to beat the nation's second-best scoring defense.

Rypien engineered a fourth-quarter comeback, finishing with 269 yards passing with a touchdown and one interception, along with 30 yards rushing on eight carries that included scrambles for three first downs, in leading Boise State to a 24-17 upset over No. 16 Fresno State on Friday night.

Modster has 3 TD catches, No. 23 Broncos top N. Mexico 45-14

Any talk of a trap game did not get much attention from No. 23 Boise State in practice this week.

The Broncos went out and played against a struggling New Mexico team as if a huge game was not looming on their schedule next week against No. 14 Utah State.

"This week, it was all about New Mexico," Broncos coach Bryan Harsin said. "We can control how we play the game and we did."

Sean Modster caught a career-best three touchdowns passes to lead Boise State to a 45-14 victory over New Mexico on Friday night.

No. 14 Utah State survives on Colorado State penalty

For a few moments, Colorado State lived every underdog's dream finish. The winning score even went up -- briefly -- on the scoreboard only to be wiped out by reality.

Collin Hill's apparent 34-yard touchdown pass to Preston Williamswith no time left was negated by penalty, allowing No. 14 Utah State to escape with a 29-24 victory Saturday in a wild, stunning finish to a game played in snow and freezing rain.

Cole Fagan 's Thanksgiving feast consisted of yards and carries.

No. 24 Fresno State outlasts No. 19 Boise State in snow

Ronnie Rivers didn't find many open holes while running the ball for Fresno State in a snowy Mountain West championship game.

And he didn't have one on his final run Saturday night. But it didn't matter.

Rivers took an option pitch and shredded a tackler before scampering into the end zone to give No. 24 Fresno State a 19-16 overtime victory over No. 19 Boise State for the Bulldogs' first conference title since 2013.

Utah State routs North Texas 52-13 in New Mexico Bowl

Utah State walked into the New Mexico Bowl with one of its best records in school history but uncertainty. Its head coach, Matt Wells, left to take the Texas Tech job. Interim coach Frank Maile had to prepare the Aggies with an army of graduate assistants and an announcement a new coach was coming next month.

North Texas, meanwhile, was coming into Albuquerque with experienced coach Seth Littrell and highly touted quarterback Mason Fine.

The Aggies pushed those distractions aside Saturday.

Jordan Love threw for 359 yards and four touchdowns and Jalen Greene had six catches for 151 yards and a score to help Utah State rout North Texas 52-13.

Rivers, Fresno State top Arizona State in Las Vegas Bowl

Running back Ronnie Rivers might be the embodiment of Fresno State's turnaround.

It wasn't guaranteed Rivers would be able to play this season after sustaining a foot injury in spring practice, and he was limited by a shoulder injury late in the year. But Rivers was there, leading the way as the Bulldogs completed their journey after going 1-11 two seasons ago.

Rivers rushed for 212 yards and two touchdowns to help No. 19 Fresno State beat Arizona State 31-20 in the Las Vegas Bowl on Saturday.

Nevada beats Arkansas State 16-13 in OT at Arizona Bowl

- As Nevada quarterback Ty Gangi worked through his progressions, Reagan Roberson slipped out into the left flat unnoticed.

Gangi flipped the ball out to his tight end and Arkansas State's defense quickly converged. Roberson shed the first would-be tackler like he was brushing off a bug, made a beeline for the corner of the end zone, diving across the line just before two more defenders could stop him

Following more than three quarters of offensive ineptitude, the Wolf Pack found their offensive rhythm at just the right time, beating Arkansas State 16-13 on Saturday in the Arizona Bowl on Roberson's 11-yard overtime catch-and-run.

Big 2nd half leads No. 20 Boise State past Air Force 30-19

Hank Bachmeier's arm and poise carried No. 20 Boise State until Robert Mahone took over in the fourth quarter.

And the Broncos' defense? It continued to stymie opponents in the second half, even if it finally gave up some points.

"The second half we just went out there and tried to put the game away," Mahone said. "It was a close game, but the second half we knew we had to finish and that's what we did."

Bachmeier threw for 263 yards and two touchdowns, Mahone rushed for a pair of scores in the fourth quarter, and Boise State pulled away in the second half for a 30-19 win over Air Force on Friday night.

Bachmeier leads No. 16 Boise State past UNVL 38-13

Boise State was looking for a fast start against UNLV, especially coming off a bye week.

And, while second-half defense had been the key to the No. 16 Broncos' previous four wins, their first-half defensive work was near perfect Saturday.

Hank Bachmeier threw for 299 yards and two touchdowns and Boise State rode a strong defensive effort to a 38-13 win over UNLV.

No. 14 Boise State loses Bachmeier, beats Hawaii 59-37

After holding a competitive contest for the starting quarterback job, Boise State coach Bryan Harsin has insisted that the Broncos are well stocked at the position.

Saturday night against Hawaii and its high-powered offense, Harsin's message was put to the test. Turns out, he was right.

Chase Cord threw for 175 yards and three touchdowns in relief of injured starter Hank Bachmeier and No. 14 Boise State beat Hawaii 59-37.

Sachse's field goal in OT leads No. 21 Broncos past Wyoming

With Boise State clinging to a three-point lead in overtime against Wyoming, Broncos linebacker Riley Whimpey had a chance to seal the game with an interception in the end zone.

But, he dropped the ball.

Two plays later on third down, Whimpey blitzed and stuffed Wyoming running back Xazavian Valladay in the backfield, forcing a 37-yard field goal attempt that fell short -- a game-ending miss.

It was that kind of night for the No. 21 Broncos, who rallied and escaped with a 20-17 overtime victory over the Cowboys.

Henderson, No. 20 Boise State hang on for 31-24 win over CSU

Curtis Weaver knows his Boise State history. The Broncos’ outside linebacker knows how hard it is to earn a footnote in that history.

That’s why Weaver takes great pride in his team earning their place in that storied history.

Jaylon Henderson accounted for three scores, defensive tackle David Moa came up with a big late sack and No. 20 Boise State beat Colorado State 31-24 on Friday to finish undefeated in Mountain West play for the first time.
