As a young child I was introduced to the Yankees, Packers, and Blazers because of my grandpa and dad. Watching sports is a religion for them. My grandpa used to put me to sleep with stories of the great Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Joe DiMaggio while my father would tell me about Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, and Whitey Ford. The Yanks are going young and rebuilding a great foundation of youth with guys like Aaron Judge, Gary Sanchez, Clint Frazier, and Gleyber Torres. The future is bright for them!
Yeah. I know the Beavs are having a great season. It looks like UO coach Horton will probably be let go this September when his contract's up. My guess is Andrew Checketts will be offered the job. He's the former pitching coach at UO and led UCSB to the CWS last year. I went to high school with him at West Linn. Dude lives, eat, and breathes baseball. He played for Pat Bailey who's an assistant at OSU now. Man that guy is one of a kind.
Just like the Lakers and Cowboys, if you are a fan of the Yankees and have zero ties to the area, you became a homer bandwagon fan somewhere along the way. When those teams are good, its good for their respective sports though. I hope the Yankees turn it around this year so I can root for them to lose with every fiber of my being.
I was just joking when I came up with the thread but he's currently at an MVP pace. Guess you never know....
Pitchers will adjust to him. And if he continues then... Only then will he even be considered good. Trevor story did really well for a little bit.
Wasn't there a guy that, IIRC, was playing for detroit that just destroyed the ball for about 4 months, then after the ASG, just went downhill... He's doing great, but baseball is literally about making adjustments, and then others adjusting to your adjustments. He hasn't quite gotten to that point.
Being such a long season almost every player will have more than one slump throughout....but pitchers probably have more pressure than any position on the field. Anybody notice how badly umps are calling the strike zone this season? It's getting ridiculous....and seems they're making bats out of balsa wood...break a couple almost game to game.
495 foot home run.... What Judge is doing isn't normal. He's like if LeBron picked up a bat and decided to become the chosen one in baseball. A human cheat code! Currently Triple Crown Leader AS A ROOKIE!
As a kid, my father took me to Oakland A's games in his 1964 Ford Galaxy 500XL (God, I miss that car). But as an adult, I found that we got more coverage of the Giants up here in the PNW. Started following them half-way through the 2010 season, and I've been a fan ever since. I'll be a fan for life. My mother's side of the family are all die-hard Giants fans, so it wasn't much of a step to root for them.
He's having a great season so far and so are the Yanks! The team has been on a tear during the last 5 games at home. Win vs Red Sox 8-0 Win vs Red Sox 9-1 Win vs Orioles 8-2 Win vs Orioles 16-3 Win vs Orioles 14-3
