May Gray in San Diego means the fog is still with us. These are both from the top of our neighborhood hill, from my morning hill climb (have to get some exercise during this crazy time). Second image is actually one neighborhood over, beyond the canyon (it is a pretty steep hill).
I have lots of family down there....my daughters house might be in that photo above if that's Carlsbad or Vista area
San Marcos. Practically, San Marcos is between 4 other cities and Vista and Carlsbad are 2 of them. (The other 2 being Escondido and Rancho Santa Fe). While our address is San Marcos, it is actually not in the city itself (which means going to the county for all permits etc..). This is basically between San Marcos and Carlsbad. The first image is looking west - with Carlsbad below that hill.
My kids grew up in San Marcos after their mom and I divorced....I know that area really well. I have children in Escondido, San Marcos and Vista as well as grandchildren...side note...best burrito I ever had was in a small mom and pop shop in San Marcos..
Don't know when it was - but San Marcos has really changed in the last 10 years or so. At some point they made a pretty smart decision to pump a lot of money into the school district - and it tempted a lot of movement into the area - we wanted to live in the Encinitas area - but when it became clear how good the school district was - we chose to live here for the sake of the kids education (and no regrets about that - I am really impressed with all 3 schools we experienced here - Elementary, Middle and High school). When we moved down we wanted to either live close to the beach or have a bit of land. Got lucky as we managed to bag a decent size lot before the prices went crazy - and we are still 15 minutes drive from the beach, so it's almost a 2 for 1. San Diego's food can not hold a candle to Portland or San Francisco - with the exception of Mexican food. It really is fantastic here.
My daughter’s soccer team started practicing a couple weeks ago. Had them out at one of her teammates farm. Country livin.
