Nope, I didn't take that into account lol. Either way non fully guaranteed contracts would make the NBA a whole lot more interesting.

If anything this kills their chance at Melo.

Nope. According to Spotrac, after signing Collins, and Swanigan, and with the dead money for Varajao and Ezeli, the Blazers current total cap allocations stands at $138,756,647. Cut out around $56 million for the four guys you mention and the Blazers only would have around $16 million to spend on a free agent. Cut Pat and they'd be at about $17.5 M in cap space. Almost enough to re-sign Crabbe or Turner.

Does this increase the chances he will expand his list of permissible destinations to include Portland?

I've kind of cooled on the idea of getting Melo (was never that hot on it to begin with), but with the circus atmosphere in CLE, perhaps going to a stable team whose stars want to be here and want you to join them, wouldn't be such a bad thing.

    And, also - FUCK HOU!

I think the Knicks need to wait him out. Maybe by September he'll realize that Houston isn't happening.

Melo can't play the three.... Love can't play center..... I'm not sure if LeBron can realistically play shooting guard.

How is that going to work?

I'm sure he can play the two, but that doesn't make him a two. Is that the position you want to have LeBron defending for 36-40 minutes per night?

Why don't you think Love can play Center?

This is just a suggestion but might be a good one for the teams involved:

    New York Knicks
receive PF Channing Frye (expiring contract), SF James Ennis (expiring contract), PG Wade Baldwin IV, 2019 first-round pick (from Memphis)

Memphis Grizzlies receive PF Kevin Love, SG Iman Shumpert, future first-round pick (from Cleveland)

Cleveland Cavaliers receive Carmelo Anthony, Marc Gasol

I don't see how we get involved.

NBA 2 guards suck. There are literally 3-5 elite ones. Rather have him guarding Klay than Durant. :dunno:

I'll gut you like a fish.

Speaking of fish.... How long until Dame demands a trade because we can't acquire more talent around him?

So we are once again left out?

If Kyrie doesn't shock the NBA world and demand a trade, we could have had a decent chance at landing Melo. Now, not so much.

Maybe we don't regret this one in the long run.

Maybe PG a year from now? We should start a new thread for him now.

To be left out we had to be in to begin with. We never were.
