It's all dependent on if a person is offended subjectively. Which, if you want to counter that fight, just start hitting up the mods to censor whatever the fuck 'offends' you. "Free speech" applies to government action to suppress you (and even that has established rules). This forum has always had rules against sexism, misogyny and overt homophobia (i.e. slurs, not arguing your own dislike for it or support for policies against gay marriage). There are plenty of forums on the internet where you can post literally anything you want (4chan springs to mind as an obvious one)--other forums, including this one, have rules of decorum. Your rights aren't being abridged.

It probably should be amended, since I don't think the initial writer of that post had political forums in mind at the time. I don't have that power. I'm just going by how I've perceived we've always run things here. If Sly or Denny wants to clarify that racism, sexism or (again, overt) homophobia is allowed here, I'll bear that in mind going forward.

 

Yeah, discretion is what I was getting at with "based on how I've perceived the forum to have always been run." It's true that those things I mentioned aren't explicitly mentioned in the rules, is all.

It's all good man. I really give 2 fucks and dont care if you want to edit all my posts. Ive just always found it ironic that the left enjoys labeling white conservative males as racists and claims that their police force is killing black people at an alarming rate and its totally cool and not racist to label as such, but when it comes around the other way its seen as hate speech.

I just call a spade a spade. If i crossed the line and you edited the post then it's all gravy, we can move forward. Im not on some political trip here, just shooting the shit. I recognize that i tend to cross lines as i often try to. Im very sarcastic and i often over exaggerate opinions for comedic effect but seing as how we cant hear tone or see facial expressions it doesnt surprise me when my ass holish ways offend someone now and then.

I don't think it's appropriate to label "white conservative males" as racist, just the ones who actually say and do racist things. White women, black men and women, etc, can also say and do racist things. I also try not to edit often, since this is supposed to be a more rough-and-ready forum than, say, the main basketball forum. But you can't generalize all (or almost all) members of a demographic like race, culture, gender, religion or sexuality in an insulting/negative fashion. Even if this is a slightly rawer discussion format, we still don't want certain people to feel like the forum is hostile to them.

I disagree with a lot of people here, and I see tons of posts I disagree with every day. If I edited posts I disagree with, this forum would have very few posts and I would have no time for a job and would have starved to death. So, you see, this system is self-correcting!

 

Trump announced the plan to quadruple detention facilities, mostly private prisons. The private prison industry were big donors to his campaign. The plan also calls for separating children from their mothers, even the youngest, and housing the children in detention without a parent present.
