He should go to Europe. In the NBA, he could be a poor man's Pekovic in the right situation.

    Zachtly.

I forgot to mention the white part, but it was intended.

Collins can be for the Blazers what they hoped Meyers would be.

I think Collins will end up being one of the best 3 players from this draft. He has the whole package and just needs a year or two to get acclimated to the NBA. Just a gut feeling. You can quote me on this in a year or two. He reminds me of a faster, more agile Stephen Adams with a good jump shot and 10 times more offensive game. The scrap will be there from day 1 though.

We didn't draft Babbitt. MIN did. We traded Martell Webster for him, and given that MIN sought compensation for us trading them damaged goods, it's not like they got the best of us on that trade.

Great pick by the Blazers. Would have been ideal if we could have scored Zach including the 26th pick instead of the 20th though - but glad the Blazers got their man.

Once Zach puts on a little weight - he should be a fine PF.

He has a very versatile & broad skillset/tools to work with - he can do a bit of everything in the game.

Looking forward to watching his development - but I want Myers Leonard & Allen Crabbe gone.
Don't want no weak minded players rubbing off on our new acquisitions.

I don't really want him adding much weight. The guy is already 232. If he ever gets much over 240 he will have to play center.

Stronger, yes. Bigger? Not so much.

Well, by the same token, we didn't technically draft Collins, either.

But really, we knew when both players were picked they were coming to Portland.

Yes, welcome ZC!! Glad to get such a good player for our team! Think 10+ yrs!!!

I think fair comparisons are Pau Gasol, Kevin McHale, Bill Laimbeer in potential/style. Height will be our/his friend! Not sure yet that he'll ever reach that (High) level of play, but I am confident that he'll be solid contributor. He's everything opposite of Meyers (Meyers needs a new team IMO).

I think ZC ideal weight is about 250-260. Body sculpting somewhere between Leonard and Aldridge in upper body. He'll get there as he grows up.

I'm excited by adding another player with obvious natural height AND athleticism and skill. And mostly that this kid is tough. Reminds me a little of Laimbeer. It'll be very complimentary next to Nurk. At the very least.....he's a rock-solid PF/C on the second unit. There is no way, if he stays healthy, that he isn't a contributing post player on this team for year. But, I'd like to see him earn his way onto the starting lineup ASAP. His overall skills will help our team big time.

Is Raef LaFrentz a good comparison for Zack Collins?

The Denver version. IMO he's similar to Myler Turner - except Collins has much quicker feet laterally.

This is why I think Collins will have no problem being a PF full-time in this new era of spread offense.
