Nice story on NBC Sports NW: https://www.nbcsports.com/northwest...briels-uber-good-deed-incredibly-heartwarming
Here's the part I liked: "He's terrific," Stotts said of the 6-9, 220-pounder. "He's a great young man and from a basketball standpoint, he's got good size, good length, he's very active and athletic. He can hold his own in the paint. He's working on his perimeter game. He's a tireless worker. I've been very impressed with him." I know he might not see a minute the rest of this season, but who knows about next season?
Good project to develop, with a great head on his shoulders. Hope he gets a chance to play. I find the idea of him as a swing guy who can play both a wing position and center intriguing. Center on offense in a small ball lineup, and SF on defense. These guys are so hard to find.
My boyyyyy But seriously, he should develop into a rotation player. I think Stotts actually likes him. Hes a rookie that came over mid season and still found minutes. Some of that was necessity, but he essentially benched biggie, who was familiar with the system. I see his future at the three, but he can definitely play the four as well. I think he’ll be better than Aminu once he’s settled.
Wenyen has the game, and motor to have success in the NBA. He's already had key minutes for the Blazers. Remember the, " Remembering Kobe" ,game vs. the Lakers. He had many key defensive moments that help the Blazers toward victory in the early part of that game. Just seeing how much energy he brings, and the great smile he displays on the court is all you need to see to know he has a great heart. His act of kindness confirms it.
Kid works hard is all I hear from the coaches. Arguably one of the best "first possessions of a career"! LeBron takes it to his chest, and he swatted his shit!
What a story! Wenyen seem like an awesome guy. And I love his game. His potential is a solid starter. His defense is already pretty good. And his offense is coming along, just need to knock down 3s. He got good form though. I love a future frontcourt of Little at SF, Gabriel at PF, and Collins at the 5 with Trent at the 2. That defense would be so good. Would just need a playmaking PG then we will be set.
I posted last season that he has tenacity under the basket. He's tough, but even thinner than Collins. He was underfed in Africa, a mini-Manute Bol. He has talent, but he's 2 years away, so I hope he endures until he learns the game. I like him, but then I've liked a lot of Blazers who lasted one year. I usually pick a hopeless case to be my favorite player, so he may be it this year.
