Absolutely done with this lazy ass. Start trent and move Melo to the 4 with Zach as the back up 5. He has been nothing short of atrocious since coming off the bench. Doesn’t look interested. If we bring him back next year I will be in the fire Olshey train.

Is he injured? He looked straight up lazy/uninterested. He moves slow and wasn't even trying to make play or even jump to get rebounds.

Seeing the way he was playing, he is already one leg out the door, I doubt he would want to coe back and play back up. Unless we throw big money at him. That's too bad, he could have dominated other team's back up 5s and really gives the second unit some size and hustle.

He wasn’t that bad. All 5 of his points and 5 of his rebounds were important and he was setting the screens when Dame went off.

Yeah I don’t want him back next year. We should go after a PF that can shoot 3s. I am thinking guys like Paul Millsap, Marcus Morris, Patrick Patterson, Marvin Williams, and even Ibaka if we can pull that one off haha. We don’t have a big forward than can stretch the floor. These guys can and they all play versatile defense which we need. Collins should play all available back up minutes to Nurkic while still potentially starting at PF

He is upset that he is coming off the bench. Needs to get over it

We definitely have to play him. Even at low energy he is still much better than any other options on this team that lacks depth. I think he played better in the second half and maybe he turned the corner on pouting that he's not the starter anymore. He might not even be pouting, some guys since I've been watching basketball have a hard time getting into the game when coming off the bench and given his new limited role he might not have enough time for him to get into the flow of the game. Anyway, hopefully we will see more of what we did in that second half going forward.

I'm, not sure if that's it. Although I think he got sold a bill of goods along the line that he would be playing starter minutes and that he and Nurkic would play a lot together. (BTW, just read recently that Olshey is actually intentionally trying to build a team around a bunch of big guys; intentionally going against the trend.) I think both Whiteside and Stotts have already realized that Nurkic and Whiteside cannot play together so Whiteside will sign elsewhere in the off-season. Maybe that will turn out best for everyone, but we will still have the misguided Olshey with us.

What is the cap Situation when Whiteside is gone?

Today he was +9 while Nurk was -13, so this isn't the game to bash him after.

But yes, there's no way we should bring him back. It's debatable whether trading Meyers for him was a good trade, and that's a pretty savage indictment.

That's an interesting idea, but how much bigger can we get with 2 6-3 guards?

We lost Mo in the trade too

Whiteside won't be back next season

Collins and Whiteside had the best +/- while Nurk had the 2nd worst. Anyone who watched the game can draw their own conclusions about the value of a one game +/- stat.

The only reason we were in that game was because of Nurk

I agree. I thought he was fantastic when many were struggling. Early in his Portland years he was a bit of a mental mess when things weren't going well for him or the team, but that has improved the last two seasons as well. I'm shocked at how good he's looked since his return.

Looks like 110 mil if we keep ariza and hood stays. But do we pay 12 mil for 36 year old ariza who bailed on us?

The answer is absolutely not. Not in today's market. Hood was having his best season as a pro. You also have Gary Trent Jr. and Nassir Little waiting in the wings. If Ariza wants to come back at a reduced rate I would be willing to listen.

Raw +/-? Really?

So we're going the whole "so crazy it just might work" route? Sounds smart.

1.) He didn't "bail"
2.) We gain no free agent money by waiving Ariza
3.) We lose a 3-and-D wing that's a good fit for our team
4.) We lose our only medium-sized trade chip

So no, waiving him would be a terrible mistake.

I agree... You're assuming no Whiteside in this situation, correct?

It's independent of Whiteside. Itd be a mistake to let him walk though, unless we fill the backup 4 through trade instead of the MLE.

Yea it’s crazy he use to be bad around the rim with that flick weird shit he use to do. Now he’s confident, leads by example, high IQ, man he’s really good
