Yes, we need another center, but yes Nance has a 7'2" wing and a 9' standing reach. I am anxious to see him play some center in preseason.

I have a pretty funny story from my college days back in the UofO. Actually, this was probably my party-after-college days...no matter

anyway, the head BB coach for the Ducks back then was a guy named Dick Harter, He was a former marine and he ran his team like boot camp. That was the infamous "Kamikaze Kids" days for Oregon basketball. They were junkyard dogs and Harter was never more proud than when the Ducks, all of them, dove on the floor for a loose basketball. Harter had a picture framed that showed all 5 Ducks on the floor at once:

anyway, pre-game rituals were very structured and repetitive. Harter believed that was preperation. One of the rituals was that when the Ducks did layup drills, about a half dozen Ducks would stand at the halfcourt line and stare at the opposing team doing their warmups

well, one time the Washington Huskies, who were always a good team back then played at Mac Court. Now, their head coach was Marv Harshman, a very good coach, but also quite the showman. He had a plan, and so, when the half dozen Ducks went into the stare-down mode, about a half Dozen Husky players got right in their faces. The only difference was the Husky players were all wearing Groucho Marx masks. It was hilarious even though it got the Mac Court crowd in a fever pitch. But the Huskies walked the walk and beat the Ducks that night

a pretty interesting write-up about that game and the weirdness of Dick Harter:

    I was at that game...epic

I did wish we could've kept Kanter.

I wondered if the team just felt they had to move on to better defenders. Billups is trying to change habits, add new accountability, and motivate everyone. If you have a shitty defender it makes that message harder to push. Maybe if it was year 3 of Billups tenure Kanter could've stayed.

Oh well... Maybe this means the 14th spot goes to a big.

I thought about that....you're right...he's got a leg up on spot 14 then as it stands....I still like the idea of Ed Davis and Larry Nance anchoring the second unit until Cody can play ..even Ed for a 10 day? Don't know if you can do that at this point

One would think he'd have black eyes or some signs of bruising.

Maybe he didn't really break his nose and instead he's pulling off some medical fraud.
