First move of the not yet off-season:

So Monroe will most likely be available in Free Agency.

I didn't even know you could DO trades yet!

I hope this means that they know Monroe is going to the Knicks. I also hope he's not coming to Portland. (But having said that, I don't think you can conclude much with this. Ilyasova is not going to replace Monroe. This is bench shuffling.)

Actually, as somebody pointed out, the downside is that the Bucks just freed up money to match any offer for Middleton, who did interest me.

I wonder if Milwaukee tried trading Ilyasova for a draft pick, cuz if they did they would have had over $30M going into free agency, and I can't imagine them giving Butler to many minutes of they keep Parker, Middleton, and Giannis.
I imagine theyll try to dump OJ Mayo.. thing is you can look at Philidelphia as a salary dump all summer. I think you'll see shady year trades like OJ Mayo and 45 to Phili for 58 and 60. Milwaukee could then see if they could get Middleton to wait on signing an offer sheet and then use their $35M in cap room to go after Paul Millsap (maybe LA or K Love) and Brook Lopez..

It's funny how they're in such an enviable position when they were so terrible a year ago.

Butler's and Williams' contracts are both unguaranteed for next season.
So this is a rough example of the type of value something like kaman's deal could potentially fetch.

LeBron doesn't play for Cleveland after the season. So they can't trade him. He is free agent.

I know this was just a snarky response to an original snarky post but.... Not necessarily. It is an opt in our out that he triggers. Maybe some could claim it is a forgone conclusion he opts out but I don't think so now with the cap going up so much next year summer. Especially if they win a title this year. Although it isn't as much about money anymore for LeBron as much is it is about who the team surrounds him with.

Read the tweet, Cleveland can't trade Lebron until after the finals.
both those contracts have team options for next year so Mil can clear the capspace, giving them about 22 mil to spend this summer if they desire

Y'think?

Philly can ask for a lot more than that.
possibly, but does Philly WANT more than that? I don't think so. I think Milwaukee would live to get rid of Mayo's contact to sign a legit PF and bring Parker off the bench

Parker is going to be a star. Why would they want him off the bench?

Because he's going to be a star, he isn't one yet. And he would still get 30 min a game. If it means them contending why wouldn't you?

They have so many second rounders that they will look to trade 2 up for 1

Clippers trade Matt Barnes and Spencer Hawes to Charlotte for Lance Stephenson

Funny. When Hawes chose the Clips over the Blazers I doubt he envisioned playing in Charlotte next season.

That is some baby back bullshit. Barnes + Hawes = Stephenson?

I guess if you are an LA team...

It was rumored Char was considering offering up their pick just to get Stephenson off their team

The clippers got worse IMHO. Less defense and even less big men.
And they traded for a guy that plays their deepest position. I assume they're going to trade Redick or Crawford for a SF, or the might decline Crawfords option so they have $9M. If DeAndre leaves, they're absolutely screwed, because they'll only have $4M to $9M in cap space to fill starting center, backup center, backup PF, and backup SF. If DeAndre returns and they play Stephenson at the 3 they'll still be worse than last year because they will have even less of a bench.

I bet they deal Redick and sign Ray Allen and Francisco Garcia for vet mins.

If they're dealing Redick, I'd hope the Blazers would make an offer.

they'd want Batum for him which as much as I think we need to explore trading Nic I'm not sure that's the right deal. If you have Stephenson and Crawford at 2 you don't need Allen, plus if Allen returned I don't think he'd go there

Doubt it, I bet they'd take Kaman and next year's second.
