Think he deserves his own thread because the more I watch and read about him, the more I think we might've found something. Crazy good athlete. Measurables. Can shoot. Competes on defense. Not much of a ballhandler but who cares? He is the perfect role player. Also played in a similar system at Notre dame.

I know absolutely nothing about him. I won't ask for links, cause I can search for that shit myself. But I'm intruiged.

You are the first to discover this otherwise unknown dude.

Nobody has ever seen him play, his game is undetectable.

Maybe a mix between Kyle Korver and Dellavadova at best?

He sounds like one of those white dudes that can come in and hit a three once in a while, not a bad pick in the second round.

Cuz he's white? Korver is a much better shooter and pat is a lot bigger and more talented than DELLAVEDOVA

Saw a courtney lee comp somewhere. That's a much better one.

He's also a great rebounder for his size.

@SynergySST: Pat Connaughton made 47% of his spot up jumpers this season. Could be an efficient floor spacer with good toughness on both ends.

He is the first player drafted by the NBA & MLB since 1997. (Who was that?) After the Orioles drafted him in the 2014 4th round, he signed a $428,000 bonus in Spring 2015. (If he doesn't play baseball, does he have to pay it back?)

OK dude you win! Your comparison is better!

Surprise. Can't believe nobody found this dude. Clearly, best player available after the first-five.

Athletic freak (44 inch vertical) who can shoot and defend. Dare I say reminds me of a more athletic Wes Matthews

He started 4 of his 6 games, pitched 14.1 innings, and was pulled out just before he could bat, so he had no at-bats. Was Michael Jordan this good?

This legend already has an enormous Wikipedia article. I always choose my favorite player before the season starts, which is the kiss of death, and it may be him.

The only reasons I've heard of this guy before the draft:
1. He's still deciding if he like Baseball or Basketball better
2. He got a really surprisingly high vertical at the combine (you know, like Jordan Farmar)
3. People speculated he "gamed it" by purposely getting a low "reach" measurement, because they work out the vertical by subtracting your standing reach from the highest point you can touch
4. He made a big fuss about fitting with Boston
5. He played with a player I actually wanted in Jerian Brown Grant

I remember him from the tournament this year...because he made us laugh. Who is that little white guy who keeps outrebounding all the bigs? It's Pat.

Jerian Grant*

Yep, in Notre Dame's near upset of Kentucky, Connaugton had as many rebounds as Cauley-Stein and Towns combined.

He didn't shoot well but he played PF that game and had 8/9

Yep, I didn't watch a lot of college ball this past year, but was in NW Indiana at the time and the Notre Dame Kentucky game was on everywhere. I couldn't believe they started their 6'5" SG at PF against all of Kentucky's 7-footers - and it almost worked. Notre Dame almost won that game before falling 68-66 as Kentucky made their last 9 shots to come from behind and pull out when of the better games in the tournament.

I know this is going to seem blasphemous but I believe in time (definitely not in year 1 and probably not in year 2...) Connaughton could become every bit the player Wes Matthews ultimately turned into.

With more hops and less defense, but the guy can shoot for sure.
