How can this City or Team become an elite stomping ground for Free Agents to WANT to come here? I mean what makes Players not consider us as a top destination? ( Weather, too laid back, not big enough Metropolitan )? If Packers can lure Football Players to Green Bay for Pete’s sake, or is the NBA players more vain?

It's simple:

Portland needs more LeBrons

They need success. No one was vying to get into Cleveland or GS before Lebron did his thing and then GS started having success.

Now every one is different for why they want to play somewhere or make a place there home, but I believe the Blazers make it to the conference finals some time, they can start attracting FA’s.

We need the same things that Minny, Utah, and other small market teams need....

Portland is very white. As white as any metro area in the Country
Nightlife
No players come here unless its during the winter, and its cold and rainy. If they came during the summers it might change their perception. Most of America thinks it rains here 12 months a year and we don't see sun

Perception

Bad weather
High taxes
In bum fuck Egypt for most players
Not a very large black population
Also rans most every year

Portland is not a huge destination for young black millionaires.

Young white millioniares don't want to come here either

Youre a young, rich basketball player and you might one day get to choose where to play. (no drafted guys have turned us down yet...). You have 30 cities to choose from. You have been to Portland only to play the Blazers and it was cold and raining most likely. You know that its a low concentration of African Americans and a smallish city. Why would it be on top of your list? Beautiful trees and mountains?

Perception?

I'm always arguing that it's not the city, but I'm fucking tired of Portland, too...

Old white millionaires and hipsters... that's what we have in spades.
