As of 6pm this evening.

The RLEC-lightning strikes twice.

N'awesone.

Link please. Why 6:00pm? That seems like an odd time. I thought it was 9:00pm PST (midnight EST).

Oh well, damn. I'm so disappointed. I can't believe Neil didn't convince another team to give us something for nothing.

I thought so too

Find a player you'd honestly want at the appropriate price range. And then double his cost, because this would probably push us into luxury tax range.

We're already $3 million over the tax threshold. So, find that player and multiply his salary time 3.5x.

Doesn't matter. I didn't see anyone who I wanted that would have been available for a TPE.

A bad contract and future picks/prospects.

I thought overpaying for below average players was what got us into this mess in the first place. Doing more of the same isn't the answer.

Nobody was going to give us a 1st round pick or a talented young player on a cheap contract. Both are just too valuable these days, and 2nd round picks can be had on draft day for a whole lot less (as we have seen over and over and over - Crabbe, Layman, Trent Jr. etc.).

The appropriate price range is literally anything from rookie scale to 13m. Kind of a wide net. Too bad 90210 couldn’t identify one player.

It's our fault for believing are GM would do something that he implied he would? Why should we expect nothing at of our GM, no matter what he says? That's kinda depressing.

Show me one quote where he guaranteed he'd use the TPE. He said it would be in play. That's not the same thing as saying we will absolutely use it to add more talent to our roster.

C'mon BNM, at least read the post your quoting....

Where did I say he "guaranteed" he'd use the TPE?

Who gives away a cheap, talented player for nothing these days? Who??? Outside of a top 20 player, those are some of the most highly desirable players in today's NBA. Get young talent while it's cheap. That's what everyone is trying to do. No one is stupid enough to give it away for nothing.

You literally asked the same question yesterday and I answered. So why are you asking it again?

We're not going to clear the mess until 2020 anyway, so why not add to the mess to gain assets that will be valuable past 2020? Lineup another bad contract with ET's and Meyers' and reap the reward when it's off the books. We won't lose anymore flexibility, since we don't have any to begin with. That's not he same as "We have a ton of flexibility, and we have to use it now", which was the theme of 2016. I think we could add future 2nds, including one in 2021, which looks like a super draft where a 2nd round pick would be the equivalent of a late 1st. If we had to take on Miles Plumlee or someone similar this summer to land Gary Trent Jr, I would've done it. I know it's up to Paul but it's a sound, logical strategy that would only be unpursuable based on Paul's pocketbook.

You literally asked the same question yesterday and I answered. So why are you asking it again?

You literally mentioned two guys we got YEARS ago under the previous CBA. The CBA and the landscape has changed. You didn't "answer" the question yesterday. So, how about answering it in present context today.

Ok. Richaun Holmes.

He "implied" nothing. He said it would be in play. If you assumed that meant we'd use it, that's on you.

Here's a Neil quote:
"But one of the advantages we do have, we have an incredibly aggressive owner in Paul Allen. He believes in the core of this group, he wants to improve the group and we've got two really good trade exceptions. We've got a $13 million trade exception from the Allen Crabbe trade, we've got one at $3.5 (million) from the Noah Vonleh trade and we're viewing those trade exceptions as if they're room when it comes to making deals and acquiring players. It's an advantage we think we have relative to the marketplace where we don't necessarily have the cap room but we have a lot of liquid contracts and we do have two major trade exceptions where we can absorb players that we think can fit into our group that can advance this group going forward come playoff time next year."
So Paul's agressive, and wants to improve and use the TPE's. That says that money shouldn't be any obstacle, which is reaffirmed by Neil saying they view the TPE's as simple "room". States that the TPEs are "really good" and an "advantage" while outlining how they could use them to make the team better.

If that's not "implying they'll be used" to you, then I don't know what to tell you. No where did he say they may or may not be used, and he didn't say things in the manner of "We'll be able to put our TPEs into play and see what we can get for them". He never put emphasis on the possibility of them not being used, and put it all on how valuable and meaningful the TPEs are.

So the fact that they end up meaningless and worthless while we have dead money on the books as a result of matching Crabbe is a huge failure on Olshey's part, and he didn't help with his comments. He implied it'd be used.

Don't forget guys, we have an "incredibly aggressive owner"...
So either that's a lie and Paul stopped Neil from making moves with the TPE that would've added to our asset group, or Neil couldn't figure out one single trade that could've made us better now or in the future.
